Hi everybody! I'm totally a newbie to this, I've been looking over the forum recently, but I haven't ever really posted much. I've had about 10 face painting gigs in my short career so far, so I have a website with a few pictures on it and I'm trying to get started. But I got a call tonight from a local high school. I have never body painted before, even thought I would really like to, so I didn't know or couldn't think of all the right questions to ask at the time of the call. But the contact ...

I am the type of person who likes to do a lot of research before they make a purchase, and now that I have some extra cash, I want to get some larger professional paints instead of just the small pallettes that I have been working with. So my question for you guys is this: Which colors from each brand do you prefer and do you suggest that I get?

Hello everyone.

I have been painting on and off for around a year now and have joined here to broaden my horizons.

I have the same user name on a UK based face painting forum, of which I have been a member for a few years now.

I suspect I will be relatively 'quiet' while I am finding my way around.

Should I offend at any time, please let me know. I would rather be told 20 times about the same thing than never to be told! Im thick skinned so do not be shy

Still new at face painting, but having fun. I look at everyone's pictures and think, "I've got a way to go!!" I really enjoy the information everyone is willing to share and support for us newbies!!

I started painting children's faces for an annual work program and really loved the kid's reactions to seeing themselves in the mirror. Started branching out to the neighbor kids and am trying my hand at a few small events here in Alaska.

Thank you for having this forum!!

BUT, good news! Last night Ryan and I signed the lease and got the keys!!!

So I got an email today from a local zoo, and they are considering hiring me to face paint there once or twice a month on their family fun days and discount days. I think that this would be a really good way for me to get my name out into the community; however, I have no idea how to go about working with them. Do I charge them a flat rate and let them collect the pay per face rates, or do I collect the pay per face money and then split it with them?

Does anybody else have experience working ...

The website doesn't give alot of information. I'm only 40 minutes away so I would just drive in everyday. I'm excited that there is actually some facepainting activity close to me!
I really like the TAG game (even though I feel vastly underqualified to participate!). But I thought maybe we could do another sort of game and have a weekly theme thread? What do ya'll think? We could just post bunches of pics under a general theme? I would love to see everyones interpretations! Also it would be good practice for me too! I'd also be happy to organize it if you like! (you will have to decide on the theme though so post your ideas!)

Had fun 'Jammin' in BC, Canada

Kristal and I got to meet finally at our jam session in Langley. She's in Surrey and I'm in Mission (about an hour or so apart). So we met halfway. What we didn't expect was not every restaurant WANTS free facepainting. We were going to meet at ABC Restaurant (a family restaurant) and I called ahead to make sure they were OK with us meeting there and practicing a bit. 'Nope'. They were not interested and never would be...apparently they have an older clientelle. Weird, cuz I just met with ...

Starblend Powders

Hey Guys!

I have 3 pots of Starblend powders that are just sitting in my drawer taking up space. The colors are red, black and white (I'll get pics on here this evening). I bought these in December because I figured they'd be perfect for full-face spidey masks for little kids but after doing 2 faces I had to accept that I lack the dexterity to work with powders and I didn't want to wet them. The red and white have been used exactly twice and I've only swiped the black with my blender to test ...

Avatar Movie

So I just got back from seeing the movie Avatar. I came away all pumped about the avatar face I could do. I went online, saw one on youtube that wasn't so hot, so I was even more pumped to make one even better.

Well, it is really hard. I tried two times, and came away looking more like a native smurf with an acne problem than avatar.

Anyone else have a go at it? Do you have photos you can share?

I'm almost embarrassed to show mine.

Invitation Inserts

I just created a small flyer (4 per page) that my clients can download from my site (or you can email) and mail them with their invitations....

This is pretty much the actual size...so they'll fit in any size invitation.

I got this idea off of a website and wanted to share.

I finally sucked up my courage and decided to buy new paint, but I was wondering what kind you all use and in what colors. There are so many colors available!
Also, I'd like to keep my budget around $80.00, is this possible?
Thanks in advance!
