So, my husband suggested a video blog... Eureka! Well, after thinking about it for a little while, here we have my first video. I'm posting them on my website, facebook group and I have a youtube channel that people could subscribe to. I don't know yet how much it will help my business, but you never know.
Just finished my site and would like some reviews. I just got an email about 2 errors on the first page, lol, talk about first impressions! (She's a friend, so it's ok.) But going to change that when I'm done here.

I'm not crazy about the few pics that are grainy/blurry in my gallery. But with time, i'll weed those out.

Last, I'm gonna get a domain name within the next few days so it's not a long address. So that'll help. But here it is...

Having links from other types of sites is good too, but it is really important to have links from other sites that have a similar content - in essence it shows Google/Bing/Yahoo that the other sites are "voting" for you, and are "qualified" to do so.

This has happened several times while I am painting. A mom (or whoever) will come up to me and ask/grab a business card and ask "what are your rates?"

Last weekend when I was painting @ a more public event, I just directed them to my website. But I feel a little cornered and don't want to come off flipant at private birthday parties by telling them to go to my website. I want to continue to give a good impression but not necessarily talk money when I am painting.

Any suggestions?

Do you recommend a few "yard sign" or poster types and at least one string up styles banner for a 10x10 tent?

Do you find it better to be generic i.e. face or body painting, henna, tattoos or use your business name and images?? or would you get both?

I've finally come up with a business name that I like, and am thinking about buying a domain name. But I have no idea how to go about doing this! I've checked the page I like, and it isn't taken. It just comes up with an advertisement for GoDaddy.com, asking if I want their help in purchasing it. It looks like they charge about $70, plus a 10% commission just to help you buy the site. Then there's the added cost of buying the domain itself? Am I right?

If anyone has done this before, ...

I just updated my website and would appreciate any feedback you have to give.

I changed all my text to black, before it was blues and pinks. I thought it was too all-over-the-place. Also changed the page background to a more subdued look, hoping it would help my pics stand out a bit more.

I think I need to edit down the wordiness, but not sure what to take out.

Thanks in advance!

The three top paid entertainment directories in my area are Gigmasters, Party Pop and Gigsalad. There is a way you get a discount 50% fee with Gigmasters (but not for renewals.)

There are plenty of ways you can get free listings too. Google, Yahoo and Bing are great search engines. Try "Google Local" in your area.

Craigslist is another way you will be able to advertise for free.

Try searching "face painter" in your local area to find free directories.
