Oh my goodness!

I've never had much problems w/ staining on my face(nothing a repeated wash couldn't handle). Yesterday I was working all day, so I made a simple eye design using Paradise Amazon Green. It was 10am. I got home at 8pm & went to wash it off. My forehead would not come clean & wherever the green was it was stained. I tried moisturizer; no luck. It finally came off after using a clay based mask from Mary Kay.

Now I'm thinking, I love the color & used it on kids & ...

My inspiration came from a lady on another forum who painted a beautiful garden & fairy design on her tent walls for a ren festival. Well I had to give it a go and I'm so happy with how they came out! I drew it out with a white pencil and then painted it. The design I chose translates to my business cards and web site. Plus, it's gonna give me a black background when taking pics. ...

I did a bit of searching, but did not find very much on silver and gold face paint.

I don't currently have any in my kit, but I think it's definitely something I need to buy next!

What brands does everyone use for their silver and gold? I sampled the silver Metallix DFX (all my paints are DFX so far and I love them), and the hue was not too grey, but it seemed a little translucent to me, especially for line work.

I'm definitely looking to get the closest match to actual metal that I can ...

Recently I saw some awesome designs made with DFX metallic white so I wanted to buy some - but the designs were using it as a base so I'm not sure if I can do details and lines with it. It didn't look sheer in the pics ...

Looking at my paints only, and thinking in terms of a fully stocked palette, I carry about $600 worth of face paints to jobs with me - not counting the extra containers with ingredients listed on them. Add in the sponges ...

While a good concept (acrylic and *very* light and a great large size) for *me* it falls short. It is great that it stands on a table top - thus taking up little real estate horizontally, but 3 areas where it fails (for me):

1) it is DANGEROUS - the corners are the sharpest corners I have ever felt! It could easily (!) ...

I have a question re split cakes. I've only ever used Snazaroo as a main medium to the degree now that I sell Snazaroo in Australia. They don't do split cakes as they have a policy no-one touches the paint until the face painter does. I was looking for a better source (only partially happy with SF!). I found these two (thanks Shannon). But I am wondering about their main difference: close-cell vs. open-cell foam. I am *assuming* that the open cell would hold more paint - good (could load up a LOT for a great base) and bad (would waste a lot of paint if not reusing for that gig).

I made a choice board for my gig last night because I would be working with 3 other painters or varying skill levels. I needed a board with no pics, so that people wouldn't complain about a lack of consistency.

So I printed out the words of our choices and then filled them with pictures of what the choice was. Worked great! and even the really little kids that couldn't read knew what all of the choices were!

p.s. sorry about the crappy pics, they are from my cell phone..

It was hot and the paint got soft , miserable to work with, so in doing some research and reading a lot of posts and asking some questions, I decided to try another brand....and ordered Paradise. Now, I haven't worked with it in heat....or outside, but I was practicing a bit ago and WOW, what a difference in just brush strokes!
I saw the face painter at Dutch Wonderland (amusement park) using it and it looked nice. I understand you only get 8-10 "changes" of water before you have to empty it and refill with fresh water. But that might be enough for a small gig? I just think it LOOKED professional, and I am wondering if it performs as well as it looks.

Thanks!

At a recent jam I saw many FPs using various sizes of black sponge craft brushes with awesome results. These were the kind that you can get at Joanne's or Michael's on sale 10 for a dollar sometimes. The "Mom" in me is wondering if it is okay to use these on kids? Does anyone use these? If not, do you think they are safe? After putting so much effort into buying safe paints, glitters and even baby wipes, I'd hate to negate all that by using an unsafe sponge brush!!

Thanks!

With Halloween coming (again), I'm thinking about buying a set of the Kryolan UV paints. I've got two questions.

1. I have a set of Wolf Neon paints. I tested them for UV reaction when I bought them (two years ago). I think only the yellow and orange "reacted" to the UV lights and only barely. Is the Kryolan better/worse?

2. Does the "UV" component in the paints have a shelf life? Like if I spend a bunch of $$ on a new set of paints, they'll ...

What I am finding is all brands are in different sizes; some in ml, some in oz. some in gr. Makes comparing sizes and prices a bit difficult! I think I am down to the Paradise - either the 30 sampler palette, or the 12 build your own. Any advice between the 2. I already have a Paradise tropical palette, and will get a powder palette. What size exactly are the cases for the 2 above palettes? I cannot find dimensions on any website. Thank you!!

Facepaint Pens, Tattoo Markers?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has used tattoo markers to make the outline of their design first and then colored it in with facepaint? I'm wondering if this would be a faster, fool proof way to facepaint. (I'm new to all this )

Also, is there such a thing as facepaint pens? I have seen the Detailz paint that looks like liquid eyeliner, but that's about it. Thanks!

My Kryolan palette that I just bought seems to be oily on top when I let it sit. Is this normal when the weather is warm? It's not a big deal, just wondering.

ANyone used PALETTES CASES by Silly Farm for each of the major brands

In my search for a palette I discovered that Silly farms makes palettes specific to each of the major brands. http://www.sillyfarm.com/sillykits3.html

- They are aggressively priced at just $25, and are available in a variety of colors.

- They seem to accommodate different paint quantities depending on the brand.. and do not offer the dimensions of the case which is odd (will email them about that)

- Can't tell what kind of plastic / what manufacturing process is used.. is it flimsy? ...

I saw them on the sillyfarm website and thought they looked cool, but are they just like sponges with handles? And what about the sponges with handles...how do those differ? Also, do you use them differently?
