I thought this would be a fun place to put up practice pieces or pics of what you just did. Just to get your ra-ra's going or get a critique if you like!

I'll start it off with mine from tonight. I'm warming up my hand for a gig, so it's not at "perfect" as I'd like and seeing how my old henna works for practice pieces. If it stains well, I'll put up photos of it once it's "developed".

Yay, excited...just finished mt first henna. It has it's flaws, but I'm proud of it. My first attempt at a design was a disaster...I made the mix too wet and the lines mushed in to eachother, so I gave up before I started. This time the mix was just a bit dryer than I'd have liked but atleast I finished the design. I copied some of the design from a website, but chose to put an eye in the middle rather than arabic text, made the dots alot bigger, expanded the design to my wrist, and changed the ...

I have the worst time with clogging? I'm running the henna through pantyhose. I'm using the bottles & I do have the smallest tips. I thought maybe I needed a bigger tip, but I like the lines better from the smaller tip(more delicate). Any advice? I have a big event on the 3rd & my daughter's doing the henna. I don't want her all frustrated & loosing time/money from continual clogs.

We've discussed much in this forum, and even have the little competitions, and yet, we haven't discussed our favorite henna! lol

I was thinking about this tonight as I was mixing a new batch.

I have tried numerous kinds over the years. Some have worked flawlessly and some...not so much.

Before I go further I am going to admit something to you all, I am a complete henna snob.

~I will not use kit henna...ever. I don't trust it. I don't like it. I won't do it.

I promised someone, I believe Psalmbook, that I would post up photos of my process. Most of this I learned from a Yemeni woman named Rafiqua who had grown up with henna culture, and Catherine Cartwright Jones in a workshop about 13 years ago.

Ingredients and supplies:

Step one: Simmer on low herb of choice in lemon juice (this is Earl Grey Tea). I usually do this until the liquid turns brownish and steam is coming from it, about 10 minutes. I was taught against using metal (aluminum) ...

Best & Simplest Henna Recipe?

I was wondering what your best recipe & mix is? I ordered some henna supplies last year & the oil smelled like gasoline & was so gross that I put the whole project & idea aside. I love the little kits you can get at craft stores, but it's not very cost effective.

After recieving lots of requests for this after Fabbulas here is the recipe for an after henna balm that can be used to prolong your stain and protect it against things that can fade the designs such as chlorinated water.

I was reading on some other sites that a lot of henna artists offer henna balm to their clients. Its nice for aftercare .... the recipe to make it is

You can then add some scent to it with an ...
