Canada Day Ideas
Hi Ladies! I've been lurking lately, but will hopefully be able to post more.
For you Canadian painters, what kinds of designs are you offering for Canada Day? I'll put up some general flag/maple leaf designs, but what kind do you like to do? Does anyone ever ask to be a beaver, would you think!?

Re: Canada Day Ideas
I actually have a beaver on my regular display but don't think I've ever done it on Canada Day.
What I did and it was great fun was only take red, white and black face paint, and white, gold and silver glitters/gels.
I told them I would paint anything they wanted but it could only be in white, red and black... and the kids had huge fun figuring out what to be. The bright ones figured out red and white make pink!!

Re: Canada Day Ideas
I haven't done one yet, but I have a bird design that I posted a while ago and I was thinking of doing it with a red centre, white outer part then put little maple leafs on the ends of the feathers... if I have a chance to try it, I'll post one.
Re: Canada Day Ideas
I was thinking about a maple leaf brow. White on the tops of the lids and red maple leaf above the brows and one lip red, one white.
I have been asked for a beaver LOL
I was also thinking a white eye, trail of white & black dots and red leafs coming down the cheek. Kinda like a little leaf explosion I guess.
Btw, Shannon that's a great idea! I laughed so hard I snorted when you said the bit about the pink.

Re: Canada Day Ideas
Haha I should try a beaver...buck teeth, anyone?! Did you know their teeth are actually orange? Weird...
I love that you only used red, black and white! (And pink, occasionally...haha) I don't know if I could do it - well, obviously could - just leave the other colours at home - but...well, you're a far braver woman than I!
I remember that bird, Perry - would be fun in red and white!
Love the idea of a maple leaf explosion. I may try something like that. Maybe stripe the lips red-white-red, vertically?
I made a red and white split cake tonight - and there we have Canada Day flowers and butterflies! I liked Angie's idea in the July 4th thread - tried something like that tonight - ended up looking like a flag on it's side, with the red on the top and bottom instead of the sides, and a leaf in the middle - it was fun!
Two days left...

Re: Canada Day Ideas
Hey Kristal!
I've only done one Canada day! The most popular design I did was a red and white butterfly with a maple leaf as the head. I used red glitter on the outer red wings.
I did an eye design for the older girls with sort of trailing maple leafs and swirls in white. Turned out pretty! (sorry can't find my pics!)
I can't say I've ever done a beaver!
It's going to be pouring down rain on Canada Day here. We got washed out of a gig yesterday..

Re: Canada Day Ideas
The photo in my avatar, ahem, is a Canada Day design. Anyone notice?
Honestly, everyone got "into" the red/white/black theme... There are a ton of designs you can do "normal" with those colours.
Spidey
Cows (pink muzzle)
Ladybugs
Red Skulls
Butterflies
Valentine (a popular heart and swirl design)
Red dogs
Dalmatians
Kitties
Red and White Tigers

I did notice your avatar right away, Shannon! That's way too advanced for me, though.. your flag looks like it's actually gathered! I love it

Re: Canada Day Ideas
ok... I might adjust it a little bit if I paint it on the actual day, but it would only be on myself going to a baseball game since I'll be in Toronto and not at home... still, I'm liking it. Maybe I'll wear it to the mall today.
