July 4th Ideas

Post by Linda Adams on Fri Jun 19, 2009 9:22 pm

Ok.....help me out gang!

I have 2 (hopefully 3) gigs on the 4th. the last one, the biggest, is at a country club.
Do any of you have some "wow-that's-an-awesome-face" ideas for the 4th?

I usually do the red, white & blue butterfly and my regular designs in red, white & blue, but wanted to know if you may have that one design you may have for the 4th that's a complete show stealer.
why? yeah..ok....because it's at a country club and I'm really hoping to score some more work! : )
Thanks in advance!!!
Linda

I'm just putting my stars and stripes tiger and butterfly on show that day....but they're no show stealers. Sorry.

I love that one Angie!!! I also saw a cute 4th of July necklace where there was a red/white stripe ribbon beads and a star in the center with a white swirl in it that someone else did!!!! Can't go wrong with the white star bursts and some split cake fun --- anything patriotic!!! Here is a youtube from sillyheatherb of silly farm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oh9_xVNl-o&feature=channel_page and here is a princess that could be easily made in the red, white, blue theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcZbMlCoIvo&feature=related and Snaz has some old ones that you could refine to be "fresher" and cleaner at http://www.snazaroo.us/02/usa.htm

Cool!...I knew you guys would be able to come to my rescue! cheers

Thanks Angie that design is awesome! It looks like you blended the white edge into the blue?

WyndyO thanks for the links to Heather's videos....she rocks!
I had looked at the Snaz page, and you are right, I can "update" one or two of them.

Yes, I blended the white into the blue a bit. I have that design on my menu board though and when it's busy I don't bother to blend it. It looks fine just going thin/thick/thin and curling the line around at the end.

I love that eye design, Angie! I do something similar with our flag.. but the blue and the stars is sooo pretty! Your daughter is gorgeous, too!

I am taking the 4th off this year unless someone is willing to pay me LOADS. I am in the midst of moving and did three gigs and a training class last week. I am tapped out!

Weekend 4th of July design photos

Post by Winger1200 on Tue Jun 30, 2009 8:38 am

I wasted no time trying out my new snaz paints that arrived the next day, Thanks Metina! I had a great time this weekend with more Fourth of July designs.
Most popular at the Saturday Farmer's Market was the quick jeweled crown with a Ruby center, Star Sapphires and pearls done with daubers. Their edges were rolled in black to give them dimension. I'm just getting used to the new camera and most photos were too bright to show details, like the silver surrounding the 'ruby'.

Just after setup, I tried two eye designs on a vendor's daughter and decided on the two stroke rite eye and lower swirl on the left eye. Unfortunately, the final photo was washed out by the sun.

Since I had to leave at seven for a prior commitment, I got to the Vienna Jam a bit early Sunday and had two customer's children painted by five with quick holiday designs. Now I know why the FP bring their own models -- not another child came into the restaurant -- oh well.

Happy Painting,
Susan

Probably a bit late, but I did this and got a TON of requests...even pulled people out of another face painter's line once a few of my customers were walking around with this!

Gee...I kinda felt bad, the other artist was much slower, wasn't using professional supplies (paints) and was only doing really simple stuff. But seriously, this face only took 3-4 min with a Silly Farm Red, white and blue Rainbow cake!

This is what I wore to the Parade 'Gig':

My first client that wanted the 'Patriotic Tigress'...she was 4 years old!

On of the MANY teen girls that wanted it:

This one was an on the spot special request...got lots of grins!

Did lots of my typical eye glam, but the Patriotic Tigress got the most WOW factor. Had people coming up just to look at me and watch me paint. Maybe you can use it next year! I might do a youtube showing how I used the sponge to apply a really fast undercoat with the 4th of July Rainbow cake. Very Happy

Thanks ladies!

I really wanted to try Angie's Flag Eyes. That to me is so beautiful and the model is just georgeous!!!

I tried doing it on my face the night before so I'd have my own picture to post....and erm....I think I brought the colors too far towards the nose area...so then I ended up making it an 'eagle eye' looking thing on each side and well..let's just say it didn't look anywhere near as elegant and nice as Angie's!! I'm going to keep trying though, because I think that is definitely something the gals would just love next year!!

However I did do a few of her Enchanted butterflies in Red, White and Blue. That is my new favorite (and crazy fast) butterfly design! I used my gold glitter gel to give it a bit more sparkle too.

So thank you Angie!!

Cute Heather!! I love that butterfly too. I stole it from someone else, though I can't remember who. It IS crazy fast!

LOL about the patriotic eye attempt... I can't tell you how many times I've tried a design and had it just go all wrong. Laughing
