Wolfe and Diamond FX

Post by SuzySparkles on Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:02 am

Hello! I pretty much ONLY paint with Wolfe. Nothing else. I heard great things about Diamond FX so I ordered some... I feel exactly like I am using Wolfe!!! Same consistency! So, are they the same? LOL

I really love the Diamond FX colors too!!

The official statement from the US distributor is that it is made in the same factory with the same base, but some of the formulas have varied as the brands went their seperate ways. Additionally the DFX has less perfume and the amounts you get are slightly more. 30 grams Wolfe vs. 32 grams DFX. Plus the DFX is less expensive in most cases.

Hope this helps.

I do like the colours - the lime green and sky blue are particularly nice.

Do you mean light green and light blue Shannon? These are two of my favorites as well.

Oh, probably... the green is bright lime green (lighter than UV green and a little yellower - sort of like chartreuse but a little deeper and greener) and the blue is the colour of the sky...

I wish there was a consistent COLOUR naming system!!!

Shannon, have you heard of the 'Pantone Matching System' (PMS)? It's what graphic artists use to match colours no matter the medium. It's a number assigned to each colour on a 'fan' of colours similar to what paint stores will have. I guess we could match colours to that and make it easier to tell what colours are even online. It just means you'd have to buy one of the fans (which aren't cheap).

Yeah... I know Pantone... use it for logos and corporate stuff. But as you say... to use it I would have to get the fan... and then everyone else would have to get it too... and then there is the variation in colours between batches of the same brand/colour...

I'm a DFX fan, as well. I don't have a full set yet, but I'll be buying strictly DFX as I replace my paints.

TAG is the same as DFX and Wolfe....really. Same factory. It is just being imported to Australia by an Australian painter, branded as TAG and sold at a very reasonably price IN Australia. They have to pay a fortune for Wolfe and DFX as there are a few middlemen involved, but by importing directly from the factory they are able to have it well-priced for their own market.

I wouldn't worry about trying to get it - DFX for you will be a better cost. If you did order from Australia to get TAG you have to add the shipping costs, and possible duty/taxes on when it gets here.
