Suggestions Please...

Post by paintedmermaid on Thu Dec 10, 2009 12:29 pm

Hello All, I need to purchase the laptop looking container thing with the foam inserts ASAP, I like the one with the 12 holes. BUT, I think $25 bucks is crazy to pay plus shipping, any advice on where to buy it cheaper. I would buy it from the Forum shop in a heartbeat if they sold them Very Happy
I want one of these, see link below, but does not have to be Kryolan brand.

Anabel Rodas sells them, anabel@curlytopsentertainment.com

I think it is a bit cheaper.

BTW, I take those holders out. I put the paint into small containers, and velcro them in. I can get about 35 in that way.

My point is, you can use almost any nice plastic box if you going to put the paints into someting else anyway. If you want to make your own split cakes, you certainly will be doing that.

You can go to an office supply store and get a document storage case for a couple bucks. They also make similar plastic cases for scrapbooking storage.

Something like this http://www.containerstore.com/shop/office/paperStorage/boxes?productId=10009754

Or this

I know lots of FPers that use these types of cases for their paints. Lynne Jamieson being one.

I have used the document things as well, but the actual palettes with inserts looks so much more professional on the jobs. I guess it is all about what you are trying to accomplish.

I would consider carring the palette things, but don't think I can do it much cheaper. I'll put it on my "to do" list.

again, if you are going to put the paint into a different container... I use a bead storage case from Michael's... it has about 20 compartments in it and I just take the paint out of the pots and smoosh it into the little compartments.
