New to FP Near Philadelphia, PA

Post by lymymi on Wed Apr 18, 2012 12:21 pm

Hi,
I'm Michelle - just started face painting two months ago and I'm here to soak up all the tips and ideas I can. And if I can help others, that too!
I have my first street/vendor fair coming up and I'm a bit nervous.
I need to cut down my painting time and not try to be so perfect with all my lines. Any suggestions out there?

Hi Michelle!
I'm new too and I'm here for the same reasons! I also have the same issue with time! Hoping to really learn more from being here. Smile

Dear lymymi:
Welcome to the Forum!
Speed comes with practice.
It is better to be good, than to be simply fast.
Your speed will improve with time.
I have been face painting for 15 years... and I still get nervous before a big event. Practice your teardrops, swirls, line work, dots, starbursts as much as possible. You get better with time. You get faster with practice.

I used to work in Newtown Square and Valley Forge when I was 20, almost a million years ago.

Happy Painting!

Dear PaolaSunglow:
All of the face painters I know personally get nervous before a big event. I think the nerves come up because we are all striving to do better and be artistically creative.
My first face always sucks. I wish I could just jump in to do the second face first.
Then, I begin to hit my stride.
I adore face painting. I love the kids. I love the way the children gaze into the mirror at their transformed selves.

Happy Easter Painting!

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
The first time I did a festival I was extremely busy and felt like I was going to slow, but by the following fair, I was much quicker. I think you may just have to jump in and get some practice to get use to it.
