I have a mountain of wash that I can no longer ignore or no one in my house will have clean clothes for work/school this week! The problem is it never ends. Of course body painting could save the world a lot of money on laundry soap... We'd be awful cold though!

What is the Spanish word for Cinnamon?

CANELA! You know, that's one of those words that you can almost "smell" when you say it: "canela", mmmmmmm ( in spanish is also the name of a brown color tone, is it in english, too?)

Yes, Pilareta. I use it to describe a certain reddish-brown, sort of coppery tone.
You guys are making me hungry. Love adding cinnamon to porridge or quinoa, or even coffee.

In Spain, specially in hot places like the Mediterranean Coast, where I live, we preparate a kind of ice cream with boiled milk, lemon, sugar and cinnamon. We froze it until it has a creamy consistence. We call it "leche merengada" and it's delicious! (Btw never a user name gave me such a crazy hunger, lol)

*Evil cackle*
I leave a trail of hunger wherever I go!

Has this forum got a Food thread? If not, maybe it has now. Wink

Yes, Cinnamon is fine, fine, fine. I love it in all things sweet, although it was mentioned further up thread it's also good in Quinoa? Quinoa you say? What what, am I missing out on something special here? I've only ever served quinoa as I serve rice: plain. *unadventurous emoticon* Cinnamon Quinoa, who'd have thought.

I learned from my mistake last night, and after putting kids to bed I blitzed the house. No washing to do (the washing currently drying over radiators not included, of course), dishes done and toys away. Apart from a few work related bits to do, I'm all yours ladies.

LoriSamson - Body painting, hmm that might work. I could be painted as cute floppy ear'd dog. Finding the floppy *cough cough* ears would be easy enough on me..
Actually on second thoughts, I think it best I stick to clothes, eh? Laughing

Ahh Cinnamon.. at 26 you have no idea how confused you can get! I was doing a food blog (my other passion before I started up my Face Paint biz) and I haven't done anything in it in months. Some of my International foods are there. www.thisfoodsforyou.blogspot.com Check out the Indonesian Bami. One of my favs. I learned it from an Indonesian neighbor who lived next to us in Thailand. Living in Asia I used to eat a sweetened coconut milk with cinnamon over sticky rice and chunks of mango on top. Yummy! Of course my mother NEVER allowed us to eat off the street vendors! (wink) For about a half a cent I would eat this on the bus going to school. I don't care what food it is (or country)... is always seemed to taste better from a street vendor! Now, I value my life too much to indulge in such riskiness. Never had food poisoning as a kid but I sure have had it as an adult! Not fun!

Thanks for link Lori. I've bookmarked the page and will settle down later with a cuppa (not wine, I don't drink y'see) and have a good read.

I think I might venture over to the other discussion rooms today. I fancy stretching these wings of mine!

Cinnamon, I have a whole recipe book dedicated just to quinoa
http://www.quinoa365.com/

As I understand it, it takes on the flavour of whatever else you put it with. You can flavour it with chicken broth, vegetables, make it sweet, spicy, etc.
It's very versatile. I don't profess to know much more than that, as I am still learning about it.

HappyNut I'm going to check that out because so far I haven't liked any quinoa I've tried. It seems that you have to hide it with soo much with other flavors and that defeats the purpose of the food. Well... that's my opinion, anyway.

Good evenin' all! (Well here it is anyway!)

Pilareta - Must admit your piccy did look good (the ice cream I mean!) and I think I actually dribbled a little bit at the sight, Homer style. Of course you may have noticed I'm talking about your "leche marengada" in the past tense, as I'm assuming it's been long gobbled down. MmMmmmmm...

Thank you kindly Happynut for the link. Lori - there may well be something there that'll prove to be a winner for you, good luck! Tis good to be in the habit of eating quinoa as it's so beneficial for us nutrition wise.

Still waiting for my glitter pots y'know Rolling Eyes
