Asian Festival - Design Ideas?

I'm doing an Asian festival here in Tally in October. Supposed to be around 15,000 foot traffic. Giving my boyfriend a CRASH COURSE in Face Painting to help me out for that event. I've started a list of ideas but wanted to see if all you creative's on here had more ideas to throw out there. I am personally dressing up as a geisha (easy with my dark hair) so I will be WHITE like a geisha. The focus country this year is Japan.

Ying/Yang Symbol
Bonsai Tree
China Doll

what about those Kabuki designs they have? Black/White/Red warrior paint I think?

Also, I'd do some Hello Kitty stuff.... maybe Pokemon or something too?

How about some japanese character?

look at traditional geisha dresses for inspiration

I did hangul (korean) characters in black and then highlighted with gold glitter gel at a Diversity Fair. It was really popular!



Lots of girls in midriff baring tops had this down their belly/hip

I did a bunch of step-by-steps for CNY in brushstrokes a while back, plus got asked by other painters to photo all the CNY decorations etc around Hong Kong where I live. Will send you the link when i find it for the photos.

And be wary of painting charcters on actual asians, they get very annoyed if you don't 'paint' each in the correct order (which is NOT the logical/ easy order, i can tell you).
And about 50% of the stencils, tattoos ect you see, the translation is wrong. EIther slightly, a lot or total gibberish to Asians!

Also; fish, monkeys, junk sail boats, cherry/ plus blossom, willow trees, arched bridges etc

Pus is it just Oriental? As India etc counts too, many design possibilities there - paisley, dots, elephants...

cat, unless you delete the old files off of your host site folks will still get to them through browsers. If you delete the files from you FTP site (host) over time (a month or so) the spiders (name for applications scrips crawling about the www and making notes of all available web pages) will no longer list those URLS as available in searches.

You could check out some manga or anime to get a feel for the cartoony style. Like very large eyes mean innocence. I like the Koi and Cherry Blossom ideas and Pokemon for kids to have variety.
