How big is it? I'm interested, but the cup size looks a bit small in the pics. Can you get a photo of it scaled next to something like a $1? Thanks!

I have the same concern, very interested, but as a past street perform I like to seed my cup and like people seeing the $$$. We always use clear containers but this year started putting g sunny low sticks or led candles in them for more attention. Still I'm interested in this, can see where the kids would like it.

I was using led light up gadgets in the bottom of my see-through tip jar... but then you couldn't see the lights because the money would cover it up.

I have never had anyone steal from mine... The really nice thing is that if someone puts something in it you hear a noise. That means if they try to take out you will hear the noise as well Smile When I hear the noise I always thank them. It is always in my sight as well.

A few years ago in the park I had a young girl steal a dollar from my tip jar. She was part of a large group who came from the inner city on a bus for a day trip. As the bus was loading up one of the counselors brought the girl back to me and had her apologize for taking my dollar. I hope she learned from that... but no one since has ever even tried to steal.

And Suzy is right... The bell (which sounds like a old fashioned church bell. DONGGGGGGG!) tickles the kids pink and causes you to never miss thanking someone for the tip!

I really like it but my biggest concern is having to keep emptying it out at a long gig, which just looks tacky...how big is the cup? Any thoughts on that?

You can see from the picture above that the cup is quite large. You won't have to keep emptying it out, but you may have to squish the bills down, depending how long the gig is.

I found some poster star led lites at Joann's. They flash red & yellow. They are made to stick on posters but I used glue dots to stick them inside my clear tip jar. Kids are attracted like moths to flame and tey don't get covered up by the bills Smile

Party City has LED magnet button lights they sell at the balloon counter. The two parts cling to each other on either side of your tip jar.

I also have a custom recordable button the kids can push (think Staples "Easy" button) and it is a huge hit with the kids....providing there is not a lot of noise.

I love the bling! Looks great! I just got mine and my little guy loves it. I'm wondering how you all weigh it down in an outdoor setting. Lately a few of my festival/fair gigs have been a little on the windy side. Maybe magnets or velcro to keep it so light yet sturdy?

Thanks as always for the helpful advice!

Does it need a lid with an opening? Are you able to keep sticky fingers OUT of the jar? Anyone had that problem?

Re: Electronic Tip Jar

We just take the tip out right away and put it into a bigger jar with a slit. That way we can say thank you to the person right away and the TIPS jar stays empty for the next customer. I don't know if a lid would mess with the tiny sensor.

I'm interested to see what others suggest.

I use a large Costco sized pretzel jug. It's clear and big, and if someone had sticky fingers it would be pretty obvious. Since I live in a rural area I added a sign that says "our cow loves tipping" At the end of the day I can stash my aprons and a few other things I take for gigs

When your sound is on you can hear the ring if somebody tries to either put money in or take money out.

The kids love it so much and I always try to make it a point to say thank you to them and comment on making my bell ring - the little ones feel special to be able to make the bell ring.
