How do you clean the face paints?

Post by LauraR on Thu Apr 26, 2012 4:33 pm

Hi, I was wondering how you guys clean the face paint containers after a booking or gig. I wipe them off with a cleaning cloth but I was wondering if I should desinfect them too with a spray of alcohol. What's the best way to keep them free from germs?

I just give them a quick wipe with my wet wipes and leave them to dry. The paints themselves contain anti-bacterial agents, so as long as they're kept fairly dry they should be okay.

I wipe down and clean the palettes and lids, blot any excess moisture in the cakes for transport, then leave out to airdry overnight before packing away when I get home.

I do like shannon..when I get home from a party..if the paints are all dirty from mixing colors..i get a clean sponge and wipe them down..I do not put any thing on them ..I don't think you should spray them with alchol or any other products..that may stay on and get into peoples eyes

Wiping them with a clean sponge is the best method I know. Almost all baby wipes leave behind tiny fibers on top of the cake.

I actually get these wipes from Dollarama that are great! They're quite thick and soft, and don't transfer fibers at all. Love 'em! Very Happy

I just wipe everything down so it looks clean & neat. I don't do anything to disinfection the actual paints, just the tools. The face paints have their own natural qualities & none of mine last long enough to even fit into the "replace every 6 month category of make-up (or is it 3 months...). If you keep your tools clean & disinfected (there's threads about this) & follow cleanliness standards you should be fine.
