Face Painting for Gay adults

Post by Faces by Ainslie on Sun Apr 29, 2012 8:30 pm

Hi guys

I am painting a "Gay Day Out" festival soon. As you can imagine there will be some highly amazing and colourful personalities there. It will be PPF, so I wanted some input of ideas I may have missed for designs.

I know there will be 1 467 983 rainbows painted, plenty of glitter etc.

I will have some "sleeve" type designs, eye designs- Pashur style, half butterflies, the male and female symbols linked etc, and maybe some painted jewellery ready to go, but anything else you guys can think of that I might have missed, aswell as my standard festival board designs for the kids that will go.

I also have my glitter tattoos to do aswell.

Thanks for your ideas creative people I love you

(p.s. my late brother who was not gay, and we didn't even think about that as it was for a rainbow theme....!)

He was a nice looking young man Shannon. I'd heard you mention him on another post. Glad you and he were able to share some time with your talent and sorry for your loss. My own brother currently undergoing chemo after having finished radiation for throat cancer. He is 49.

I just painted for a gay fashion show last night and learned from the designer that specific colors in the flag have specific meanings in the gay community. It's probably worth memorizing the meanings. Here's a link to them...

I love that image Shannon. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I also have a gay pride festival coming up, and plan to offer lots of rainbow everything. Pink triangles, male/male, female/female symbols, the equal sign (from HRC--Human Rights Campaign). Tons of glitter.
Lady Gaga type eye designs, K$SHA eye designs, Pashur's wingless fairies with the painted in wings.
So many ideas!

I think making a kids board and separate adult board is a smart idea.
Please post pics and let us know how your event goes!

Good thoughts for your brother's recovery.

Neil had Tuberous Sclerosis. Untimately it caused his organs to start shutting down. He was 36. He collapsed on a Friday morning and on Sunday the machines were turned off.

He was the baby of the family. He came to make-up school with me everyday to be my model (once we got past the "beauty" part! LOL) They even included him in the class graduation photo as he'd been there more than some of the students.

Miss him lots.

Not all of these suggestions may fit with your sensibilities- But I have seen them done.

The NO H8 logo. Princess Tiaras. Bling masks. Pansies. Aids ribbon. Leather pride flag (Blue and Black stripes with heart in corner). Various bear designs. (Big hairy gay men are referred to as "bears") Wolf clan design from Twilight (Thin Muscular gay men are referred to as wolves or cubs)

If you like doing 3 D jewelry, and are comfortable with shirtless men, painted on nipple rings and shields would probably do well. Painted on freedom ring necklaces. Also, if you are OK with edgier design- an uper torso harness would go over well. Leather collar.

Couldn't be easier.... http://www.noh8campaign.com/

Could even paint the tape.

Could use temptu alcohol pallets and it would last a few days.

Leaping Lizards,

I like the H8 logo, it is definitely eye-catching and memorable. I can imagine them going to work the next few days with duct tape painted across their mouths....too funny!

Oh Duh! I think we could make a stencil and use the air brushes for this, it would go quick. Faketoos would do a custom order too. But would you do Temptu on the face? Thanks Leaping!

thanks for the ideas- I ended up doing more glitter tattoos than anything, plus the kids stuff for the kids, and came up with a really cool simple eye mask that was a rainbow- so effective- I had people request it heaps.

Hands down, most fun I have had painting in a long time- Talk about colourful characters and giggles. Loved it Very Happy
