Oh wow, forgetting all your sponges. One stroke brushwork for the win! Very Happy

You've just reminded me of my first ever horror party. Back in my first days as a painter, I got to a birthday party and realised I'd forgotten my PAINTS. My whole tray. All I had was my Wolfe black and white and a tray of Ben Nye eye shadows. Thank goodness it was a princess party. I managed, but to this day I have no idea how.

I think I would have "accidentally" misspelled his flash...I'm thinking FLUSH would have been appropriate! Shocked

I think one of the scariest things I've saw in my life (so far) was when I was living in Memphis, tn. I painted faces weekends at the Levitt Shell. It's this outdoor concert stage in the middle of a huge park and one Saturdays they do kids shows. The stage sits at the bottom of a big hill. They had me set up at the top of the hill. At the intermission of the show the actors announced that there was face painting at the top of the hill and that's when I saw it. Hundreds of children all the sudden running toward my tent up the hill. It literally looks like that scene in Mulan where all the Huns come over the hill on their horses.

I don't use my sponges all that much, only for tigers and butterflies really. I'd love to learn some one stroke tigers and butterflies though if anyone has any!

Scary! Funny, though. I painted at the Levitt Shell a few weeks ago and there weren't many people there for the festival. I won't be doing it again. It was quite a bust.

It wasn't me, but one of my painters, when starting her very first job about 5 metres beside me, nervous as all hell, started painting her very first paid customer and halfway through.... he wet himself. I've been doing this for years and its never happened even close to me but first job, first child, I'm surprised she didn't quit on the spot.

Hahahahah!
I was just re-reading this thread.

I have some words I share with those mothers who tell me to paint their child with gems, glitter and full face, and only cheek art on the guests, as they want their child to look the best, to feel special.
I tell the mother that in order to do this, I need for the birthday child to go LAST, or else she will be inundated with sobbing guests who do not understand why they cannot be glittered like the birthday child. It will take up a lot of her time to explain this to each guest. Most of the time, whatever the birthday child asks for... every other child wants it, too. (I tell the mother this because I think this entitled child cannot bear to wait until the last guest has been painted.) So far, this strategy has worked. The birthday child cannot stand to wait, so I get to paint full faces, gilttered and blinged out.

Happy, Happy Painting!
(Does anyone else keep experiencing their AutoCorrect changing the words to "Happy Panting?)

You really know the face painter is unhappy when the first little girl in her canvas chair yesterday promptly peed in it.... and not just a little bit - a huge freaking puddle!!! And when her parents noticed it they didn't grab her up right away but just asked her if she'd had an accident. To which she just sat there wide eyed and then PICKED HER NOSE & ATE THE BOOGIE - TWICE!!!!
affraid affraid affraid

Thank goodness I had an extra chair cushion with me.

But at least the parents gave me a $20 bill and told me to keep the change (from a $5 glitter tattoo)

You know the face painter is unhappy when one of the little girls walks up to your kit and proceeds to eat a cupcake over top of your paints affraid

You think you cleaned it all out when the next party comes around and you put your hand in the bobbie pin section and pull out crumbs tongue

Oh, let me see if I can post a picture...it's worth a thousand words lol!

Note: Not my kid...I just smiled and laughed, but I really wanted to smack him! Rolling Eyes

LMAO!!!! That picture is so darn funny!

Yeah, I've pulled crumbs out of my paint before.... yesterday I was pulling out all sorts of little "nature things", since I was at a shearing festival on a farm.

You know the facepainter is unhappy when you have mum's swearing at each other in your line over who's kid was in line first and then said mums proceeded to scream (they were both 3 feet away from me on either side of my face) at other people's kids in line to stop pushing each other - I wanted to grab my kit and run but the women scared me and I kept asking them to stop fighting cause it was just facepaint - this was as at a party (at least 150 kids - the birthday kid's parents are the son of a noble and the niece of our king - yup we have kings and nobels anyway....)- it was a HUGE party and the lady that paid me was 50m away and couldn't hear what was going on.....I did paint some kids there that have NEVER had their faces painted so that was pretty cool....

Mohokoi, what a scary moment. Wow, Tonga!! Any change you'd like to participate in, uh, the very first face paint exchange program? I come down to your island and you can come up to my rainy, dreary city? Lemme know. Cool

Hi Guilded cat yes it was quite surreal - never been in that situation before - I hope I won't be again....we've been having some good weather but i'm looking forward to it getting cool again....Tonga does not have the fancy resorts that some of our neighbouring islands have but we do have some pretty beaches .....let me know if you ever decide to come down this way we can meet up and have a facepaint jam on the beach! lol....not sure how that will fare with our paints - sand + facepaint doesnt mix well i dont' think.... i've sent a pic of my daughter on the beach to entice anyone else wishing to join the facepaint exchange programme!
