Love the ice cube/tube tray painted gold! Mine is starting to look pretty stained. I've thought about spray painting it, but not sure what paints to use to be safe Smile

I'm still using a rolling scrapbook bag and carrying my table n chair is starting to become such a pain. I think it's time to step up to the next level and head to Lowes for a Fat Max. My husband is gonna love me. Very Happy

i love your sign holder. My hubby is trying to figure out how to make one. How is the pole? Is it like a tent type pole?

No reason that wouldn't work - I took a "C" clamp and two of those adjustable plumbing connectors that is a ring that you tighten close with a screw and I use them with tent poles (you can fasten just a couple of the shock cord ones together with elastic if you pull it tight, tie the knot, then pull it out again to cut it shorter) to hold signs or if I'm using the old round metal tube ones (or copper pipe) a light. I have so many pieces of various types of tents around (Mom was a group camp leader for years) that I just find whatever works for what I need (I have a tent pole that is two right angles that I use with my black stand shelves to make a top bar to put fabric over). When Mom and Dad and I do a trade show (another life besides painting events), we have the whole setup assembled with these clamps, poles, and even elastics (to join shock cord tent poles at right angles to the stronger "light" poles that are fastened to the table). Hardware stores are very useful - I spend more time in mine than I do in makeup stores.....

other than noticing from the flash that my fat max and contents need a good wipedown, this is pretty much how I set up my kit at a party or a festival.

Split cakes, rainbow cakes, one-stroke cakes to the left, velcroed down (some with lids)
to the right underneath are my starblends with their lids on. on top are my single colors, with lid. I can move this box to the left if I need to get to my starblends.

mesh bag are all my clean sponges, red bag is for used sponges.

Foam core boards cut to size so they won't slip out of the top edges of the lid when it's opened. eliminates the need for the bungee cords. adding the foam core support for the brush easel also gives an anchor inside the top section for more stability for the table top not to be bumped off.

What the bottom section looks like loaded for travel. the mesh bag of sponges and the orange bag for used ones fit in before it's closed. that blue/white zip bag is my money bag, I place it under one of my massive thighs (lol) while i'm sitting painting. I don't think anyone will try and grab it from there, lol.

Metal pole exact height needed for lid support. Velcro taped to one end of the pole to adhere to velcro glued to the lid. When opened, the pole stays in place and supports the open lid. Bright pink tape so I won't miss it, lol.

Ok...I am bumping this thread because I MUST know where everyone got those cases for the paint! Barbb, Luvs to Paint and Denise...anyone care to share? Very Happy I just got my fat max and I am trying to get more organized and professional looking. All your amazing setups are very inspiring to me! I like the laptop cases in the forum shop but I don't want to spend that much $. Thank you in advance... flower

if you have a container store they have these plastic project folders for 3.99. I have all my paints in them. to take up the excess on top I used Joanns green 1/2 foam and cut to the size of project folder. I labeled the outside so I know what paints are in them. The open flat so you can unload onto the top when working. I also built a table for the top of my fatmax that folds in 1/2. Has raised edging along the edges too. I'm on the wrong computer for pics and don't know how to upload from phone.

Thanks for the info Vegas Mom xoxo. I'm going to have to research if there is a container store nearby. Very Happy If you could share pictures later I would LOVE to see what yours describing. I really like how Barb has them in the foam on both sides...did you buy foam and cut it yourself Barb or is that the inserts from the forum shop? Do the stay put pretty easily? I see that you have the tops off all the paints, will they still close with the lids ON? Sorry for the 10,000 ?'s but I just want to make sure I get it right the first time. I keep having to tweek things...

http://www.containerstore.com/shop/toyStorage/boxesCases?productId=10027113&N=80471&Nao=20 Wink I found their website, no store close enough to justify a trip though. I think this case may be perfect for putting paints in BOTH sides and still be able to keep my lids on! http://www.containerstore.com/shop/toyStorage/boxesCases?productId=10027113&N=80471&Nao=20 Thanks again!!!

Yes these are the ones I found.. I leave my lids on. I know some people find that time consuming, but its just my personal preference.

Re: Loading up your fatmax

No I only put my paints on one side. I tried using craft foam and cutting out the shapes of paint containers, I didnt care for that. In one I have my tag splits velcroed, but I probably wouldn't do it again. None of my others are velcroed in. The Wolfe 90g paints and some of the taller containers need to go toward the center. These containers are pretty skinny. I can fit 2 30 gram circles on top of each other easily. When I set up I empty one case into the top of the other. I have 4 full ones. I like that they have a handle too that folds away when not in use. You can probably fit 6 or so in the bottom of your fatmax on end. I will try to get pictures later today. I hope this helps.
