Is the FAB smell gone yet?

Post by Becky521 on Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:34 pm

There are a couple of colors of the FAB paint that SillyFarm sells that I'd like to try, but not if they still have that floral gramma's unmentionable drawer smell!

I was wondering if anyone has received some FAB paints lately, and if so, do they still have that overly perfumed smell to them?

Co-op opportunity? Where's that thread about splicing paradise paints among 3-5 people.

Ooops, didn't read all the way through the first time. Mine are still the first batch. No idea if the smell is gone or not.

I have some newer ones... the fragrance is really barely noticeable now.

I am one of the few who actually liked the smell before, but I am giving you my honest opinion, it is barely there now.

Ronnie, What colors do you have and how is the line work with them? I have the silver and dark red. The dark red does great lines, but the silver is worse than snaz. I'm thinking it's all about the colors as oppose to the entire brand being bad for line work.

I have quite a few and LOVE them. I NEVER use them for line work...I stick to wolfe/dfx/tag for line work. FAB colors are relatively soft in my opinion. I have about 12 of them: most of the greens, purples, blues, glitter white, and silver. I have no complaints. I have repotted mine and the smell, not that it ever bothered me, is gone.

The co-op is planning on ordering our paints this week, so we will for sure let you know how they smell. We also have room for one more person!

Lorie is right. The FAB paint is way too soft for any kind of line work. I have a ton of their colors. The shimmery and glittery ones are some of the most beautiful on the market... they perform best as base colors for so many pretty things.

FAB paints remind me of Kryolan which I love. Some painters love softer paints and some don't.

I have two different labeled pots and 4 colors, but both have a slight smell. Everyone that has smelled it, likes it from my chair Smile

Same here, CKC. When I first got the FAB last year, the little girls always commented about how nice it smelled. I think the fragrance bothered face painters much more than the clients.

Just got some last week, one color still had smell, the rest did not! horray! Not sure why they put smells in paint in the first place? I would prefer if none of the paints had any scent in them.

The pack of FAB paints that I got with my FABA TV subscription (in February) are nearly odor-free.

Re: Is the FAB smell gone yet?

My 1st paints last August were 20 small (18Gms?) Fab, smelly, but I didn't mind them; Strange, since I react to most perfumes by coughing. Got a few arty cakes too. Used the Fab blk & white for linework @ my 1st gig in September. The next day I was getting DFX white & Wolfe black for linework! I love how Fab blends & OH, how pretty the colors are. I have the silver, gold, bronze & copper, still using the original 18Gms! Just use those for teardrops, not usually lines. Gold makes an amazing ironman. Just got the large deep red (rage), cause it's my "go to" red & the new metallic magenta, which don't smell. The magenta, however, is VERY sheer. I'm going to post a pic I did Saturday of a kitty. If you compare it to my avater, where I used the Fab lilac, you can see the difference. Whitney's right about the colors. My other shimmery Fabs aren't quite that sheer.
