So tired of being sad.

Post by eva on Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:44 pm

It's a long story but it boils down to this. My nephew is a loser and his babies mom has kept my mother and myself from his son for three months.

I know an aunt/great nephew relationship isn't usually so close, but this baby and I and my son were. We have babysat him from the time he was born. Since last july I have had him every weekend except three and usually a day or two during the week. He has brought such joy to our lives. And then.... she got a new boyfriend (also a loser) and my nephew went crazy for awhile. She filed a restraining order and said after the court dates we could see him again. Those have come and gone and still not seeing the baby. She nolonger will respond to my messages. I have always helped her and supported her and I think it boils down to this...She thinks she is started a new life with new guy (new baby daddy she thinks) and she wants the baby to have nothing to do with bio dad and his family. Now her family is on our side, but it doesn't seem to matter. I have hope that my nephew can beat out her wishes for no parental rights through court, but I don't put much faith in him. Please keep us in your prayers. My son in 9 and is having a really hard time with this also. He says everything reminds him off the baby. I am hoping it will all pass and the parents will grow up, but you know how that goes. I just miss him everyday.

My son and the baby

My mom and the baby.

Obviously there is much more to the story I don't want to bore you more with, just please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. This is just a really sucky situation.

I am so sorry. I don't know how she can deprive the boy of that relationship. Very selfish.

A similar thing happened to us with my brother...

My brother already had a daughter from a previous relationship and when he and his new girlfriend had another everything was okay until the baby was born the she flipped out and wanted his to send his first daughter away saying she was 'damaged' (because she was born without a leg) she was always being nasty to her and in the end they broke up....she moved away and wouldn't tell us where so now we haven't seen the baby in over 2 years, that means my eldest niece can't see her sister and my brother can't see his daughter although he is still required to pay child support the government won't confirm the exes address so he can serve custody papers.

Some people are just crazy and the system doesn't cater very well to fathers family it is all about the mum's wishes.

Hope you manage to get some sort of visitation back,

Sending big cyber hugs your way.

My best advice is to try and send a little package - nothing fancy - in a mailing envelope. You could include a homemade card for him or a picture your son has drawn for him, and maybe a small inexpensive toy or something. Put a note in there for the mother and tell her you are just trying to show her little one that he is loved by you and your son. Perhaps you could include a word of encouragement for her - you know, praise her for being a devoted mother to the little one.

Don't expect a response. Then, send another one a bit later on down the road.

She may not warm up to you in the timeline you are hoping for, but she WILL remember those gestures. Just don't overload her with them... 2 or 3 a year. I love you

So sorry how someone could do that, the kids end up being so messed up. Don't they know the more loving adults in their life the better they are.

Thanks everyone. Joe that sounds like a horrible situation. So sorry, it amazes me how selfish people are.

Sadly Ronnie, her and I were pretty close. She went from very grateful for my help and support to letting her new bf threaten to call the cops pn me if i let anyone leave with the baby, which i would never do. Its crazy. She is young and naive, as are her plans. I plan to send him things on a regular basis via her parents. They think what she is doing is wrong too. If she was to refuse my things from him I plan to just open him a savings account.

Just hoping this next court date will allow visitations for the dad/ my nephew and then I can see him. Three more weeks.

Thank you everyone for the supporting words.

Update: the court decided today that she has no grounds to keep my nephew from the baby! They have a date next month to set up visitations and support. I am thrilled, only 4 more weeks till I can hug my little buddy again! Thank all of you for your supporting words and prayers.
