"Moien" from Luxembourg

Post by Ospreyfalcon on Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:45 pm

Hello all Smile Been lurking here for a couple of weeks, and now it's time to actually say hi to all of you! I've been reading all the posts with great interest, and learned so much already! I'm very new to face painting, we had a nature fair a few weeks ago, and I suggested to offer face painting as part of the activity of our stand. I got a Kryolan palette, some sponges, and a Snazaroo white and black, and it was a great success. However, I was so busy I didn't get to take a single picture.
Now, I ordered splitcakes and the DiamondFX white and black from an online store (you only get the normal Kryolan paints in my country, plus some basic Snaz, it's really not great), and they arrived today, so I had a quick go on my arm, they work a charm!

I did a quick fishy, I need to get wider brushes to collect all the colours on the splitcake:

Next sunday, I'll be painting again, I got asked to do it after how popular it was at the nature fair, but this time, I'm getting paid. I'm not asking too much as I am a beginner, but I'm so looking forward to it Smile I'll try and take some pictures this time.

I am a scientific illustrator job/studywise, and I've always painted animals since I was little, so I tend to sneak as many as possible into my face paints. I have this idea of doing a quetzal over someone's face, with these long green tail feathers. I'll also be starting to teach biology to high school kids come September, I'm a little bit scared, but it will be my first real job aside from hopping from commission to commission for various illustrations and infographics.

Love looking at the pictures, and you're all so talented! Everytime I'm on the forum, I get inspired to paint! flower

Thank you Smile Aaaah I have so many ideas for face paintings! I think I'll go to my little festival next week and hide the folder I bring so kids can have a look at designs. What I did id print off several pages of a white head outline, and paint the design on with watercolour, it's very quick. I also tried painting designs on a face in photoshop, but it looks odd.
So, I'll hide the folder and paint on the kids all my ideas! *rubs hands and grins*

I want to try: Quetzal, Amaterasu (Okami), Totoro, Loque'nahak (it's a spirit leopard from a game, it should make a nice design, a bit like a snow leopard with black/bright teal/blue spots)... ah I'm a geek but, it's so much fun. All those things I normally don't put on paper.
