Having a hard time blending TAG & DFX...

Post by Katurah on Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:18 pm

I'm sure it's because I'm not use to them, only working with them for a few days, but I can't seem to blend the colors nicely unless it's a rainbow cake. Any suggestions?

Hey Kat, I had a super hard time at first because my sponge was too dry and I was slow at putting the colour on.

Maybe try using the back of the sponge to blend the colours?

Good luck!

Hey Katurah,

If you're okay to use rainbowcakes, why don't you just go for the rainbowtechnique directly on your sponge?

Spray the paints you want to use, and use the round side of your sponge. Start with the lightest color (I usually start with white or yellow) and then just turn your sponge a little bit for every color you load on your sponge. Keep going till the whole round side is filled with colors, one after another, and you have the rainboweffect.

I am going to agree with the make sure your sponge isn't to dry. and load the colours on the same sponge next each other. alow more room on it for the lighter colours than darker colours. and move backwards and forwards dabbing.
With the blendy paints I gan get away with coming back to lighten/darken or blend a bit latter if I am unhappy. but with The bold types I find I can blend them but have to lay it down quick and all at once its slightly more time consuming. and once it is dry thats kind of it. as if I try to come back in even 30 sec later it gets blotchy. (working on it!!!)

This is tag yellow, tag light green and tag dark green. as I would load.

This is the blend - it is not as smoth as my paradise blends but its ok.

You are quite welcome. I think I have gotten more from "technique" videos than "design" videos. (although I love any and all vids and am so grateful to the big-hearted folks who take the time to do them)
