Web Designer Help

Post by Lady Jayde on Fri Oct 02, 2009 4:19 pm

Does anyone have a good idea of how much it would cost to have someone design my site? I've been trying to make sense of this stupid thing but I just can't get anything to work right! Go Daddy has set me up with a free credit for the site so that I can figure out if I want to pay for it, but I can't get anything going! Should I just give up?

I do my own using NVu (free software) it works like front page if you're familiar with that at all. I don't know how much professionals charge for that stuff.

I use Weebly. It's free, has lots of features, can upgrade at any time, and EASY.

A basic website, use a free service. The more 'bling' you want raises the price. My normal sites start rate is $50. It includes uploading and changes for two weeks (the tweeks). You still have to pay for someone to host the site or find a free spot on the web. Really, it is all in the details. How much will it cost to host the site, what do you want the site to do, how much space do you need, email services, blog maybe, privacy blocker, and do you need someone else to upload the new stuff or do it your self. I like to control my own sites but I also handle other people sites as well. What do you think you can handle?

Debbi,
I can pretty much learn anything. I used to know basic html but that went out with my ability to dress fashionably about 8 years ago. I did go to Weebly, but if I want to have the page set up the way I want, I have to go in and manipulate the HTML/CSS? language manually. Way over my head.

I've got the domain, I've got the hosting...I just can't get the site to work.
If you look at www.imaginastic-face painting.com you'll see how pathetic I'm looking at the moment. I like the easy use features, but I can't get a border that I want and the fonts are so limited! Ideally, I want my border to have a signature picture in it and I want to have a gallery with little thumbnails that can be enlarged with a click. Do you think that you can help? If I can get the basics, I think you could learn me how to manage it since I wouldn't need to do much more than upload pictures from time to time and maybe change text data as things change....not much more than that.
J

Yes, I can help. Lets start with the picture you want to use for the border. Do you want it down the left side? Email me the picture. I will chop it up and put it in the webframe. Lets do that first, then we can work on the fonts and general design, last will be the pictures in the gallery. Once you have the basic coding for the template of your site, you will be able to go in and only change the messages and pictures, etc.

Your site right now is okay, by the way Very Happy It is very clean and not cluttered. A very good start.

We can snazz it up a bit if you like though.
