setting up for just glitter tattoos

Post by vegas mom on Sun Aug 05, 2012 10:06 am

I have an event in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering how you set up for just temp tattoos... Any ideas would be appreciated.. How to display your tattoo selection with only a table available. Pricing. Has anyone made their own banner for a table front? I need to get the creative wheels spinning..

My space is probably limited to a table and a couple chairs that are being provided by the event holder. The table is 6 feet. Thats all I know so far.

Re: setting up for just glitter tattoos

We just taped a copy of all the stencils to foam board (I know, I should own stock) but it's easy and if you aren't doing glitter tattoos as your only business on a regular basis, it works. We've used it three times now and it's held up well.

When you get down to the last stencil you take the one off the board and use it and now it's not available. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Inspired by a post here on the forum, I bought a little two drawer photo holder from Target for less than $8.00 (I only buy small stencils because we only do corporate gigs with glitter tattoos...after all, Faketoos is based in my city!) We made our own dividers out of index cards with a simple numbering system. I made Emma put it all together because it's HER business and she did a great job. It's funny because the kids will say "I'm 21" or "I'm getting 18...are you getting 18?" She wrote the number on the tape so the stencil wouldn't look bad when she took it off.

It works and it cost less than $12.00 for the whole setup (already using stencils we had of course.) I was surprised how many we had (and we STILL had a lady ask if that was IT! Sigh.)

If you'll notice on the photos we use envelopes cut in half to hold little stencils like shamrocks and mice. She also used those little fold over binder clips to hold the other stencils together so they aren't sliding around under the dividers. We folded a piece of cardboard in half to hold the space in the back of the drawer. It acts as a little spring to hold everything upright.

For the little ones (stencils) I have only a few and wanted to get rid of them and was thinking about 1.50 for those and then I have some super ez ones for 3.00 and the rest, regular size 5-6.00. I do have a couple large or lots of pieces, more detail, that I was thinking about 8.00. Is this too confusing to the general public?

Take a look at the Faketoos site. I think he has pictures of his set up there...or maybe on his Facebook page. He charges all different prices and has good advice.

Setting up for just glitter tattoos

Post by Y-Von on Wed Oct 31, 2012 11:50 pm

Hi! All I do is Glitter Tattoos. And my entire work so far is based on ideas that this forum has provided! I bought foam core boards, made great xerox copies of my stencils, cut them out and glued them to the board. I found glitter letters and made a title of "Glitter Tattoos" on my boards. I think it looks great! I bought a binder, and baseball card holders (clear). I put my stencils in these in the binder. I number the stencils on my foam core board and match them up to what's in my binder. So, folks just tell me what number they want and I pull it out! Simple! Have fun!

I got the 2 drawer box from target and put all my stencils in there. It holds quite a few stencils. I have about 115 stencils and between 10-20 of each, so it seems to hold quite a few. I have 36 different glitters and micas all in 3 bead jar cases that hold 12 each. I carry all the supplies and stencils and glitter in a tool box made by Kobalt from Lowes. It has a separate top carrier that attaches and my brushes, glue, scissors and misc stuff goes in there. Works like a charm and fits on top of my fat max. For the display, I photo copied my stencils, put on colored display board ( not foam board-gets ruined when it gets wet) numbered the stencils then had it laminated at the local teachers/learning store for about 2.00. The only down side I am finding is when you want to add new stencils..

I display my options in a binder with pages of the stencil pics that are numbered. I store them in a little half size binder that I found at Staples (in the Martha Stewart section) with little plastic pocket pages... the pages come with full page pockets, 2 per page or 4 per page... all the little pockets have a flap that closes over them so that the stencils don't fall out. I've found that I need to get another binder now, the one binder is too full right now, but I like how securely they are stored. I witnessed the aftermath of Glitterfly dropping one of her photo boxes full of stencils and new that storing them with just dividers between them all wasn't going to work for me (I'm rough on my stuff).

hi perry
that exactly what i use but i use the baseball card holder and the photo one for the bigger stencils, but here is the draw back as soon as you tip the binder over the stencils fall out Crying or Very sad . i then got electoral tape and put snippet over the opening. if found my self spending more time peeling the tape off every time someone asked for a stencil and ohh when they change there minds after i get it out Rolling Eyes

But now i think i found the answer Idea Idea Idea im going to buy velcro tape, and i think they make the in little dots, that you can tape each side to the opening of the sheet. BTW Perry i i need 2 of those binders to hold my stencil.

in any case i still need to make a display for my stencils and number the them. i made a BIG mistake and took out all the sheets and laid them out on a table so people can see their options. at the end off a 8 hour crazy halloween party 2 of my 9 up sheets got stolen Evil or Very Mad thats 36 stencils 5 a piece. thank darwin i make my own other wise that would have been a good 50 to 80 dollar loss

I didn't look whether there were larger pages than the half binder. In the sizes that I bought, they have them with full page pockets, two per page and four per page. The full page ones come with either the flap on the top or a ziplock along the side.
