*waves from New Brunsiwck Canada

Post by ladysinaz on Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:26 pm

Hi Everyone
I've just started Lurking around and WOW some nice stuff. I really like the contests.
I hail from New Brunswick, Canada
My history is interesting..And likely long winded Wink
I LOVE tattoos, have many, had a friend who owned a tattoo shop and i used to help out. His favorite thing to get me to do was soldering tiny tiny little needles together (he HATED doing that, and it gave me something technical to do so i thought it was great Smile )
So Lounging around the shop, we'd periodically get someone walking in looking for Henna.
What is this Henna stuff they speak.. I looked it up (a little, you henna artist on here are about to cringe) and bought a set of colored henna tubes, some syringes that i got the tops off of and away i went. Embarassed
It didn't get any further than me staining myself with what appeared to be some sort of mush with food coloring in it..
I Went on to learn all about actual henna, natural vs black, bought vs mixed at home, cultures pattern ect ect.. My henna business was born.
Every festival i did i would get customers wanting black, wouldn't even entertain the idea of a henna because it wasn't black Evil or Very Mad
Being tired of this foolishness, onto the research. i found airbrush tattoos.. they can have black and be don'e with it.. This began my accumulation of foolish amounts of gear and things and stuff.. i LOVE stuff!
I've been doing both off and on more the better part of a decade. had i stuck with it the whole time, i might be pretty good by now lol
In the pile of "lesson learned the hard way". i was approached by a woman who was opening a new salon, she was interested in having me in there full time.. bounce
This is when i was starting to add facepainting to my bag of tricks, i figured i already airbrush.. how hard can airbrush tanning be.. ( brilliant idea i thought )
Turns out she was an unstable con artist and by the end of it, i was out all of my new facepaint, compressor and tanning stuff Shocked
But on the bright side i still have the pile of brushed i bought
this was the end of my facepainting career.
Now..... i'm giving it another go.. i'd like to learn cake painting, airbrush face and body painting /makeup and the special FX stuff.. i can't just pick one

Why pick? Strengthen one area & go on to the next project...(oh yeah, most of us have financial limits...that's what keeps us in line from going off the deep end of everything all at once...so choose wisely!)

Hello Fellow Canuck!!! Welcome and have fun! Lots to learn and fantastic people here to grow with!! cheers

I would say that why pick one? I am a henna master first, face and body painter second but learning, beginner airbrush artist and now dipping into gore an FX.

I would however suggest putting more effort into one and getting a real good handle on it before diving into the next. You are unlikely to get really proficient at any of them if you're bouncing around too much! Tho it looks like you have the airbrush tats down so time to have an art party with everything else!!!! Go girl!
