Lizzie, just to cheer you up, because you're the person who introduced me to them...may I present:

WUPPIES IN LOVE

Their eyes met across a sunlit meadow in the Scottish Highlands, where the wild haggis ran free over the purple heather abundant on the ground. It was love at first sight. She was shy, but overcome by his gentlemanly ways. He wanted to give her flowers.....but found he had no arms. He wooed her anyway, with courage, persistence and respect. The rest, as they say, is history.

The happy couple:

Alas, the lady wuppie's spurned lover, left high and dry on the Islands, was not so happy to see them married:

I thought this was funny....

Ran into an aquaintance who told me: 'I'm so sorry for you! Having to deal with all this, being sick from chemo! And in time you'll even loose your hair!!!

Couldn't help but grinn... Wearing my wig for three weeks now! Totally bald!

Well yeah, I can laugh at this!
A neighbour thought I was really weird for dyeing my hair when I was about to loose it!
He did not know, I wasn't going to wait until it fell off itself....

I take it as a compliment! Apparently my wig is very realistic looking and very very Lizzie! Most people don't notice!
I don't run around bald, I don't know how my children would react (I'm not hiding, they know they can see my bald head if they want) I don't want to confront them with something they don't want.
It is tough enough already!

Oh, and another laugh I had...

The tiny little stubbly hair left after using the trimmer were really painfull.
While washing some disappeared, but most of them had fear to let go...
However, I could remove them just by picking them with my fingers. Well, that's a hell of a job!
I used duct tape! What a relief! All stubbles glued to that, no more pain!
Funny sight though, my head wrapped in duct tape!

LOL Lizzie - I wish you'd taken photos of you wrapped in duct tape! Too funny...but also practical and imaginative problem-solving. I'm impressed! Laughing

Thanks for making me smile. And for making me not feel guilty about smiling, because of your attitude. Smile You're fabulous. And I might have to paint a bald wuppie....or one with a wig....in your honour. Wink

I think it's fabulous that you're keeping your sense of humor. So important...and before you know it, the treatments will be over and you'll be on your way to getting your health back. Love your sense of humor over your baldness, lol... i think you should find someone here who is near you and I think you should beautifully decorate your head like a "badge of courage", then photograph it, just like they do with bellies!!!! Good luck recovering soon! xoxo, Tina

Lizzie, here's hoping today is a good day for you!!! How did the pet scan turn out? I can't say I know what your going through, but I am experiencing it from a family member point of view. My dad was diagnosed 3 months ago with stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to some bones and other areas. If the drs would of done a pet scan 5 years ago maybe things would be different for him now. I hope your taking someone with you to your dr appt. my mom doesn't catch everything and my dad has basically tuned it out. PS the Canadian pharmacies drugs are way less expensive. Again hope your having a super day. Eat, and stay hydrated and keep positive. Take those crappy meds. Lecture over lol oh and feel free to pm me if you want to chat. Breast and colon cancer are basically the same strain from what I understand.

Have to think about the bald head painting... Don't tell anyone, but I'm not fond of painting my face.... Embarassed
Jantien offered a boobie-bodypaint, but I just can't do that... Don't like massages, people touching my face, feet or whatever else (yes, got three children, that's different...).
If I could do it myself, that would be no problem.
So in the end, there's something weird about me, Huh!

Yes, I try to stay realistic, positive and keep my sense of humor.
It makes something so very hard a little bit easier to handle.
Don't spend energy to something you can't change, spend energy in dealing with it!

I'm very sorry about your dad Vegas mom! Loved my dad endlessly, he passed away two years ago, hope your dad will have more years to come!! Even with metastases my dad lived some good years, but that depends on where they are found and how quick they spread, doesn't it? Hope it won't go quickly and you'll have good times together (hope I found the right words, my english is ok, but I'm really searching words now to express what I would like to say....)
Sad the pet scan was too late, over here a scan is only made when they think there's something seriously wrong, not just for check-up.
Next week I'll have my third chemo and after recovering from that they'll make an MRI scan of my breasts, to see if chemo worked. I'll have those results om november 5th.

Yes, I did have a nice day and it's even not over yet! I'm eating well and gaining weight!
I'm enjoying my good days and even painted a wuppie today!
Very Happy

Re: Break down ( hope final update!)

Dear l!zzie:
Regarding bald head painting...
This summer, I was paid to face paint 18 days in a row, 6 hours a day.
It was heaven.
We were to paint only those under 12 years old.
It rained only one day out of the 18.
On THAT day, a bald woman, wearing a kepi, came into our tent to have her daughter's face painted. It turned out that SHE was the most loved babysitter that our caricature artist had ever had for her own, now grown children. Since we were not busy, I asked the woman if she wanted to have her HEAD painted. She said, "I would love it!" I painted a garden on her head, striving to make a beautiful design, without actually following her natural hair line. I thought that paint will never replace hair, so let the world know that this is fun face paint.
I was really proud of my art work. Another woman came up to me and asked if I would paint her face. I told her that I could only paint those up to 12 years old. (It was starting to get busy at this point and we had a small line up of children waiting to be painted. There was nobody waiting while I painted the woman who had been receiving chemotherapy.) The pushy woman told me that I had just painted that "other lady", so I could paint her, and she sat in my chair. I told her "no". I painted the next child while they stood up beside the chair, and waited until the woman left my chair and my tent.

At the end of the gig, my boss told me that I had two complaints about me....
1) I asked a gentleman to step away from the lineup while smoking, as all the cigarette smoke was blowing into our tent. The man said, "What is this?!!! A Police State??!!! I can't smoke ANYWHERE!!!!!" He was mad. He went and complained about me.
2) A woman complained that I did not paint her, and I was painting a "lot of women" who were older than her. In 18 days, I only painted ONE woman. I painted the bald woman who was going through chemo. My boss saw through the woman when she told her that I painted a woman's head. How else was I going to paint someone's head, unless they had no hair! My boss thought her case had no merit and did not tell me until the last day, when we were breaking down our setup.

It would be hard to paint on your own head! The brushes and sponges feel really good on the scalp.

Have a Wuppie Day!

What Lizzie didn't tell you about the wuppie she painted is this:

My son has a cold today - just a cold, certainly nothing like Lizzie's going through. She took the time to paint an absolutely gorgeous Doctor Wuppie, and then she posted it on Facebook....just for my little boy.

She made my feeling-rotten 4 year-old smile. She's such a star. :-)

They need to be cheered up!

Just wanted to let you know I was stalking your thread again. Oh wait!!! It isn't stalking now that you know!!! Wink Oh well. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and hope you are having a good day.

Also just to add my 2 cents I once painted a child's head when booked on gig. I shared the story on one of Kammy's threads but I just wanted to say the joy on that little boy was one of those moments that puts you in "yeah that is why I do this".

I love it Lisa, you painting the woman's head! You stood up for something you believed was the right thing to do, and I so agree!!
Some people just don't seem to 'get it' well, their bad luck....

And yes Lady Jynx, those are the moments! Lucky those moments are far more than the nasty ones!
Two weeks ago I had several phonecalls to book bellypaints or workshops (4 in one week) which I had to turn down, because of bad timing...
Made me a bit sad, worked so hard to get my name out there, and finally when things really start to spinn of (carnaval season's coming up) I'm not able to take the jobs!
Will they come back after this?! Neutral
