would you do this

Post by shandi on Wed Sep 12, 2012 7:07 pm

I have been asked to face paint at a 3 day event they want me to paint kids `10 and under for free and then can charge for everyone else. They expect 40,000 people. The issue I have is 95% of face paintings is kids under 10. What do you all think? think it's a good deal or no?

I'm guessing they are not going to pay your hourly rate?
The only festival I have done...had only one person over the age of ten in 3 1/2 hours before we were rained out.
I'm thinking what you are describing is not a good deal, but I am new at this Smile

They pay my rate and I'll paint anyone they want me to. I don't do PPF at all so no other option.

that is a really sucky deal... no way. 99% of my work is under 10. I'd maybe offer them a percentage of everything instead of a booth fee or pay the regular booth fee, but to risk working the entire event for NOTHING is ridiculous.

Your paint costs you.
Your brushes cost you.
Your insurance costs you.
Your travel time & fuel to get there and return costs you.

You will be PAYING to paint.
Um, I would say a big "NO THANK YOU".
