Re: How New is a Newbie? :-D

Erica - Jessica (I think) recently got invited to a hotel room to full body paint a body builder. Denise was asked to paint at least 2 completely naked people, full-body, in ONE HOUR so that they could go to a special "party". Precisely what SORT of party has been the subject of some speculation...

I'd say those are probably ones you'd want to bear in mind as "run like a thousand gazelles!" situations, personally. Laughing

Lol that's funny because I had a call from someone off craigslist wanting me to come paint them for their "adult pool party". That was definitely not my typical type of event. She was like " maybe you could just paint smiley faces over my nipples" Neutral. And my helper is a 16yr old girl! I decided to just make it easy, I don't do full body painting lol.

I'll give you the cliff notes version:

WHY IT'S NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO PAINT GHETTO FABULOUS STRIPPERS... Mad

I haven't laughed that hard since I read the indecent proposal for a clown in an adult movie post !

I believe Perry was once asked if she was interested in performing a role in a "large clown porn" film. Laughing

Yup, that was the one. I've obviously lived a more sheltered life than I realised, given I had no idea that the genre "large clown porn" even existed. Laughing

Ah, my brother informed me last weekend that anything you can imagine exists in a porn version.... Even snowwhite and the seven dwarfs, and the Flintstones...

I was trying to focus on driving, while deciding if I should be concerned that my little brother knows of these types of porn, or about the fact that he must have watched it...

Yeah. There are some things I really wouldn't want my little brother to discuss with me. Really really.

Did you feel like you needed to disinfect and floss between your ears, afterwards? Laughing

Nah, we're quite open about things, but that one fell under "too much information"

Especially considering we were driving to a facepaintingjob together...

Thank you all for sharing in my "pain"... while it stings (because the warning signs of a bad night started 2 weeks before the gig) I can actually laugh at it. And actually, we got the last laugh because I was the only one with a high res camera so Amanda and I got some awesome pictures (if you don't count the bad hairdo) and they got camera shots. I have to take solace in that flimsy reward...

Why? Why? Why did we have to bring up the clown porn again? it took forever to purge that from my head the first time! Now when I think of my ghetto fab stipper there will be a kinky clown in the background! clown

clown porn? I wonder if that was a prank call...lol. I would have died laughing!!! P.S. I have had a slight touch of Coulrophobia for as long as I can remember.... My husband brought it to my attention that I will have to grow tougher skin, now that I might work along-side a few clowns lol. I refuse to dress as one however... Wish I knew what triggered that phobia, I know it's pretty silly....

You're hardly alone in that. My mum really dislikes clowns, and has memories of being very frightened on the one occasion she was taken to a circus as a child. I, on the other hand, think they're cute.

You should watch a few of Perry Noia's videos. The clown character is very cute and scared of things, and the songs are funny. You might find it helps ease your coulrophobia....but just in case, perhaps have a couple of stiff drinks to hand. Laughing

Wow, Lade Jayde, who knew?? I obviously missed that thread...but I DID read the entire story of the woman with the clapper bum!!! LOL! still laughing over that one!
How did you ever do such a wonderful job under those circumstances?! VERY, VERY impressive!
cheers

About clown phobia: I wouldn't say they have a phobia, but I have twins (boy and girl, so it's not an "identical twin thing") that have never liked clowns, monkeys or elephants. Have never figured that one out...but it was best to avoid the circus. Shocked

LOL yea I can see how the circus could cause a lot of problems....I have 2yr old twin nephews and I steer clear of ANYTHING that might get them both worked up simultaneously! Shocked According to my mom I never experienced the circus so I don't know what caused my issue w/ clowns, maybe I was exposed to a slasher film to soon? I did attempt to watch Steven King's IT a few years back and ended up hiding under the covers lol.

Hi Kammy,

I have been painting for a year now, and just once in a while just for the fun at the moment (maybe professionally some day in the future?), but I still feel quite a newbie especially because I don't master all the techniques yet. For instance I don't have (any experience with) one stroke/rainbowcakes/arty cakes, B.A.M. stencils etc yet...

In the beginning of next year I will go to a few workshops to learn facepaint with these cakes and stencils.

I am in absolute stitches reading this thread!

I've been painting less than two months- and I'm obsessed! Wish I could make a full time career out of it - would never have a dull day !

My friends daughter is an absolute angel and lets me practice on her now so I feel like i'm improving all the time.

As for the clown-phobia, it was IT that done it for me too. Must have been about seven when I watched this and it scarred me for life! affraid

Get to know a few real clowns, and you'll lose the coulrophobia. The clowns on this forum are lovely! Very Happy

Welcome to the forum, and to face painting, btw. I only started in September, so you're about a month behind me! xx

Thanks! I love this forum, everyone's so welcoming and friendly! And anything useful I've learned recently has been from you guys on here!
