Ct convention????

Post by MoMoMac on Wed Sep 19, 2012 11:54 am

Can anyone tell me a little more about the January convention in Ct for 2013??
I REALY want to go, but I need to have as much planning time as posible to make it happen! I've been wanting to go to a class or convention but my situation makes it very hard to travel. This seems to be the closest to me so maybe if I can start making plans now..... Arrow I just need a point in the right direction!

I went last year and loved it! I was relatively new to face painting (not to art, but to painting - I needed to gain experience with a brush). I learned a lot and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. So I considered it a great value. The hotel they have it in is also super - full of interesting items on display, so it felt like a vacation place. Lots of fun meals out, if you wanted, and nighttime jams in the conference rooms. Classes during the day for the convention fee, and extra classes at night that you had to pay separately for.

I'm not going this year (lots of home and car repairs sucked up my funds!). But if you are just getting started and want to absorb lots of ideas, skills and networking, it is, in my opinion, a great place to begin.

Thank you so much, it did! I just brought it to my hubby to tell him I wanted to go- I dont think he truly understood my excitement, but he is supportive!

I will be there! I am so excited! I've been trying to figure out how to afford FABAIC, and then I see this... hooray! About a million times cheaper, and I'm so new any class will be good for me! Someone mentioned on the FABAIC thread that we should wear FPF buttons to identify each other, what do you think? Oh, and Jobena1, LOVE your avatar! Mind if I give it a whirl?

One of my girls and I will be there, but we are only taking day classes on Friday, maybe. There weren't enough day classes that held our interest to warrant the money but we had some credits with Pashur so we will actually be taking all of the Pashur/Jay classes from Weds through Sat night.

We'll be rocking into town on Tues night. When I went to FABAIC we organized a dinner for all of the FPF people. We could do that again.

Yes dinner! Let me know and I'll be there. I've been thinking of painting myself to replace my avatar so my face is recognizable, but my daughter is so much prettier! Who was it that said youth is wasted on the young? Very Happy

CT convention 2015

Post by Nicolekir on Wed Sep 17, 2014 11:35 pm

I'm only a year into face painting, and have never been to any face painting conventions. Wondering if anyone's been to this convention and if so, how was it?

This would be a great convention for you Nicole. I've been 4 or 5 times and it's a pretty warm and inviting atmosphere. If you can handle diversity in personalities and sometimes unexpected silliness...do go; there's a lot great things happening there.
