Electronic tip jar "tip"

Post by Luvs to paint on Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:06 pm

I purchased an electronic tip jar. It is really nice and LARGER than I was expecting. I didn't like that it had an open container for the money, so I took a large size margarine lid, covered it with red duck tape, and then cut a slot in the top for the insertion of bills. Because the lid didn't provide a tight fit, I placed strong double side tape around the edges so the lid would have something to affix to. The lid stays put, the top is covered, and sticky fingers can't mess with what's in my tip jar. the lid does not affect the motion sensor device that causes it to "trip" whenever money is inserted. I LOVE it! oh, it also fits nicely laying on its side in the bottom of my fat max!

I ordered an electronic tip jar from the FacePaintForumShop. It paid for itself the very first event. I made $118 in 3 hours in tips. A little boy kept putting "Toonies" in my jar one at a time, three different times, just to hear the bell each time.

I need to re-do the tape and "neaten" up the edges, but the basic idea is there, plus it was cheap and it works, lol.

yes... it has made a big difference. The kids love to make it "ding". It has made the tip jar more noticeable.

It's huge way bigger than I thought but I love it. Think about it in comparison to a large butter tub since the lid fits the top of it Smile

Just wondering if you put the tip jars out at party bookings or just PPF? I can't imagine I would feel comfortable with the tip jar at a private party booking since the guests don't pay, it's all inclusive. Besides, the person booking the party usually includes a tip when they pay me.

I put it out at PPF events... and some events... Like if I am hired to paint at the car show... stuff like that. I put a yes/no box on the contract when they book me... It says 'May I put out a tip jar?' YES/NO
