I have a bunch of used painting stuff. Are you trying to build a kit from scratch?

I am fairly new to face painting and I purchased the Diamond FX dream kit from Jestpaint.com but that is all I have. I am looking to try other paint brands but I dont want to invest alot of $ into something I may not like. I am also looking for stencils to help me save time, right now I free hand everything. Any other time saving tips are appreciated....@ Artsy thanks but I have 3 kiddos that LOVE to be painted, I think they would be mad if I wasted the paint on a dummy lol.

The best time-saving tip I have is...
learn to embrace painting with SPONGES.
I had to have my brushes ripped from my hands in order to make the switch.
I lay down a base with a sponge, and finish off with linework.
Happy Painting!

OK, so I've only been face painting for 3 weeks, but that's exactly what I did from the start. It didn't occur to me to paint large areas with a brush - I imagine it takes much more time and uses a lot more paint, somehow.

Yay! I got something right, it seems.

I have to celebrate when that happens. It's rare, y'see. Laughing

Oh, and talking of stencils...I'm an avid papercrafter and happen to have lots of paper punches, die cutting equipment, and a basic electronic cutter. Is there any reason I shouldn't be able to make my own basic stencils - simple stars, hearts, etc. - by punching or die-cutting shapes out of acetate?

Ok, I am now on the hunt for some good split cakes...I would prefer 3 or 4 color pots. I found they work GREAT for butterflys and tiger faces...Anyone got a few they can spare?

Ooh, thanks for the heads-up, vegas mom - I love this forum! Smile I don't have a Cricut, but coincidentally I made a simple punch stencil out of acetate this afternoon, and it works really well for things like stars, or little butterflies fluttering up a simple arm rainbow....as my 4 year-old is currently proving.

I was just going to ask the same! Except the postal costs to the UK would probably make it untenable. D'you think Denise's used kit comes with some of her creativity thrown in for free? Maybe we could absorb it by osmosis, or something....? Laughing
