Corsets: Must-have paints & supplies???

Post by fezinafelina on Fri Oct 05, 2012 1:26 pm

Ok, I'm experimenting with Wolfe FX, and Diamond FX with corset painting and I am really really concerned about the paint running. I usually do faces and bellies, not body paint for a whole night out. To you more experienced body painters, what paint should I use? What tips do you have for sealing it and keeping it from sweating off? I'm not big on using stencils but I think I may need to invest in some lace and animal print ones, what do you all think? Any and all help will be much appreciated!

Whatever you like to paint faces with, you'll also like to use for body painting. I don't find that the two are so vastly different. If you like Wolfe and DFx for bases, then go for it. I like Paradise and Kryolan for bases, personally, and that's true for both faces and bodies.
You can use a layer of Mehron's Barrier spray or Liquid Set before and after you start painting to help make the paint water resistant. The cheap route uses hairspray, which includes many of the same ingredients as the barrier sprays.

Stencils work well for painting corsets details, but it is ok to not be into using them. Practice a simple lace pattern. An easy to do repeatable one, you'll be a better painter for doing so. And cheetah print is always in fashion, and right now is really is. So simple to paint.
