I Need a Princess Costume!!!

Post by Erica's Funny Faces on Mon Oct 15, 2012 2:17 pm

I am volunteering to paint at a Halloween event for "Big Brothers,Big Sisters" in my area. I can not spend a lot of $ on a costume since I am not getting paid but I would love to be able to dress as Cinderella. Anyone have or know of where I can score a good costume at an affordable price? When I say affordable I mean under $50....PLEASE HELP!!! Very Happy

I have looked around at thrift stores and craigslist but everyone seems to want over $100 for them, maybe because it's so close to Halloween? I'm not having much luck...I will have to take a look at the auctions on E-bay and bid on a few. Thanks Kammy!

That's why I didn't mention Cherlone, Luz - I doubt they'd get to her on time. I think they take a few weeks due to shipping. x

Thanks so much guys! Very Happy I really should have planned it better because now it's just to close, I don't want to order a dress and not have it in time. I may just follow mamakatrien's advice and rent a dress.

Try Party City.com I saw a Adult deluxe Cinderella dress for $69.00, then there's a 25% coupon code at the top. $10 for next day shipping. good luck!

Re: I Need a Princess Costume!!!

Post by LeslieVasquez on Fri Nov 30, 2012 10:10 am

I know the event has passed but in a pinch I have converted my regular clothes into princess clothes by taking the hoop slip from my wedding dress (or you can pin crinkled newspapers onto a regular slip or skirt) and putting it under a skirt which has pleats, a tie waist or just enough material to handle something puffy under it (even a large piece of material tied around the waist might work like they tie saris). Then for the top, I have some old vests ... so I took one of the right color to match the skirt ... and I pinned it in the back so it'd fit tight around my middle and I added some sequins to it and some bangles and some old fake pearl necklaces. It showed too much cleavage so I then just wore a tight tank under it. I painted long gloves on my arms and gave myself a princess mask and put a crown in my hair. Voila, I was a princess. I was even asked if I was a real princess by a couple girls.

I'm new to this forum but I've always been good at improvising.
