My First Zombie Face

Post by TinafromNY on Sun Oct 28, 2012 4:01 pm

Just used torn dryer sheets, elmers glue, face paint and a little gel blood. Not Shannons quality, lol, but fairly happy for my first try!

I think it's a great first try! Isn't it fun? Don't you just want to grab people and turn them into zombies now?

Thanks Doe & Rebecca!

Rebecca...no, not ready for Sandy, lol. But everyone keeps warning me so I better get some things ready tonight and take an extra shower, just in case! I get bored out of my mind within minutes of electricity going out, lol!

Sure...

1. tore used dryer softener sheets up

2. glued pieces of them to face, wrinkling them while doing it. I covered the face area with glue the approx. size of the torn piece. I used plain old Elmers school glue, put it on with an old brush. I pressed the fabric softener pieces to the skin, while scrunching them a little to "wrinkle" them. Then I used my brush to go over the edges of the pieces so they would lay down again the skin. I didn't cover the entire face, like they do on u -tube, I just did some large areas and a small piece across the nose and on the chin. While gluing, I left a few edges and ends hanging up, to look like torn skin.

3. Let face dry about 30-40 minutes.

4. I didn't have flesh color (cause all the softener sheets are white.) so I mixed white, a bit of brown and a bit of red (snaz) to make a flesh. I sponged the whole face with the flesh color, until no softener sheets looked white.

5. I took a tiny scissor and cut a few small holes, leaving the edges hanging, in a couple places on the face.

6. Then I used a brush and added bits of color all over, in this order, green, brown, red, black (not heavy on the black) and did solid black around the eyes

7. Then I used some "Rubies stage blood" in the holes and dripping a bit.

VOILA, zombie face without latex! It was REALLY easy to do and was fun painting. You really can't go wrong witht the painting. Of course nothing looks like latex but I'm always afraid to use it because people might have allergies. Although the glued pieces didn't lift sponging and painting on wet paint, it did remove easily with warm water and soap later..my friend had no problem removing it. He wore a zombie robe with it, with a hood and we went to the club...it looked awesome in low light, lots of people asked to take his picture and feel his face and I was delighted!
