Obviously, we deal with storms a lot here in Florida- and I tend to think it is always worse for placed that DON'T get them all the time. The pictures I am seeing look really devestating, but I know similar pictures have been shown of our storms, so I never know how bad it is.

Please, everyone in the North East, be safe.... Know that we are all thinking hoping and praying for you and sending you our love.

From the news coverage it's recovery time from the storms. My guess is that most the FPF peeps that have not chimed in are w/o power/internet. I'm praying they're all safe & sound. Some of my fondest memories are of the recovery time after Hurricane Hugo. We were w/o power for 3 weeks & cooked on a grill outside. We made the best of it & told out daughter we were camping. My hubby got out his guitar & we sang campfire songs, roasted marshmellows & read a lot of books out loud as a family. We lost a lot, but I still remember the memories I gained.

Canada has 2 casualties that I know of, one in Toronto and one in Sarnia.. Our East coast is flooded too, which is interesting because we were told they might dodge it and that we would get it bad.. Lots of people without power in Quebec.. This is creepy, I never thought Canada would be touched by a Hurricane..

Power came back for my family this morning...was out since Monday 9PM.
We were very lucky. They were calling for 10 inches of rain which would've surely flooded out our finished basement (and my craft area) if we lost power and the sump pump could not run. As it was, the storm went a little further south and we got the 3-5 inch range at the last minute.
We had ordered a generator on thursday and were hoping it would make it in time...nope. It will probably be delivered tomorrow.
I commute to NJ and many of my co-workers are still without power (along with the building that I work in). One co-worker's mother lives two blocks from the shore...they did not get flooded but they do have someone's beach dock in their front yard Smile

We made it through with just a while without power. My in-laws (only a half hour from me) Have been out since Monday afternoon and still are waiting to have it back on. I offered my home to them, but they like the excitment of "camping" indoors.

I am very blessed that that was all that we encountered. I am sending prayers to everyone in Nj, Ny, and Ct.

So glad to hear that you and others have made it through this without much of a hitch. We were well prepared for trouble here in Central New York, but it didn't do much here.... just a rather blustery storm was all.

Still haven't heard from a few people who live in areas of concern....
