My favorite sponge

Post by JennyNixe on Thu Nov 01, 2012 5:30 pm

I have a bunch of tack sponges that I've cut into half rounds and work just fine. However, I recently bought a Snazaroo kit (needed silver in a hurry) and it contained the softest, most perfect sponge I've seen to date. The sponge is foam, but it's like the bubbles are teeny so that it gives a really smooth cover. I love it, but I'm at a loss how to get more. Obviously, I can't buy whole Snaz kits just for one sponge. Are the red sponges Snaz sells like this? What about the classic green ones, or the ones marketed as high density?Your sponge expertise is appreciated.

Do you have Michaels by you. Mine carries those sponges in two packs, and they are my favorite also!

btw, I bought a snaz kit for the same reason awhile back, and the sponge in the two pack is even nicer than the one in the kit

Eva and Nina, thank you SO much! I do have a Michael's near me and I will print out a bunch of their 40% off coupons so I can just pop in and pick up a set every time I'm nearby.

Kryolan makes a nice set of 6 white pre-cut synthetic foam wedges you can get for less than $4. I looooove how super smooth they are. But then I think they take a little longer to rinse out well since the water doesn't go through them as much with the finer holes.

I agree, I love those sponges too. I wish they had a bigger pack though.
I have seen them at AC Moore and Michaels.

Was disappointed at Michael's yesterday. They said they could only do one coupon per person. In the past, I had been able to use a JoAnn's AND a Michael's on two different items. Crying or Very sad

You can buy 10-packs of the white Snaz high-density sponges - they're what I use. :-)

Can someone post photo's of these. I've been buying the round 3 pack in the paint brush section, but I want to try the more foam type that you've been talking about. The ones I buy I like becasue they are small enough for little faces but big enough for adults as well, not like those tiny red snaz sponges.

Maria, I can't post photos yet, but here's a listing for them at Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Reeves-Snazaroo-Paint-Sponge-2-Pack/dp/B000ZQ43M0/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1351974065&sr=8-15&keywords=Snazaroo+sponges

Definitely worth the price, IMO.

I went to Michael's and bought the only 2 packs they had. 2.99 for 2 sponges plus my 40% coupon!! Can't wait to try them out. They are very foamy like Christina Davison's sponges and not spongey like the one's I get in the paint department.

Oh and I had my 2 kids with me so we each bought a pack of sponges with the 40% coupons. That's how I get around the 1 coupon per person per day. OR, I buy and go back.

I used this one, it by Eulenspiegel. And I really love them.
10psc = 5 USD (+1USD shipping in Czech rep.)
100psc = 43 USD (+1USD shipping)

or this one, the same price.

Ahoj Seekorka! Thank you for the pictures!

JennyNixe, thank you for bring the subject up. I have mostly Wolfe sponges and while they are great for somethings, I actually prefer the more dense sponges.
I didn’t know I could get them at Michaels, so I appreciate everyone’s input!

Has anyone used those in the forum shop? "Fantasy World Wide Sponge" I have some "loaded in my cart," and what anyone's experience with them is...

A little Michael’s coupon story…awhile back I wanted to get a couple of things there (the Michaels is 25 miles from me) and I had my daughter get in a different line with a coupon and one of the brushes I wanted. My daughter has Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, and while she is very smart she sometimes doesn’t think about what she is saying. She was at the cashier and all of sudden, she says to me (in the line next to her, but loud enough for everyone to hear,) “Mom, she says the brushes are already on sale and it doesn’t need a coupon, do you still want the brush?”

Just an awesome tip for shopping at michaels, we can take multiple coupons they just have to be different percentages. We have a 50% coupon out now, then you can use a hobby lobby 40% coupon, and tomorrow we'll have a 25%off your entire purchase (including sale items). So, as long as you buy at least 3 items, you can use all 3 coupons. Just one of the pluses of working for michaels... Insider information Smile

I tried that already.
Michael's in North Little Rock wouldn't let me use a JoAnn's 50% coupon and a Michael's 40% coupon on separate items much less tack on the extra coupon for money off the purchase. I had six items.

I use the green ones from here on the forum...they are really great...I also have tons of the tack sponges from amazon...it really depends on what your painting...i love the green ones for a smoother coverage, and the tack ones for a more textured coverage..if that makes sense..

That's weird, I'm sorry, but our store was told by our district manager/corporate that as long as they're different percentages that they'll work. My mom had the same problem at another michaels, but it was just that the cashier didn't know about it, but it was fine with management.
