Here's a new facepainter from Holland

Post by Creabella on Fri Nov 02, 2012 6:42 pm

Hello,

I am Ella and I live in Holland, in a place called Drunen.
A year ago I had some lessons in facepainting, because I thought it would be fun, and it even might become handy in my profession (I'm working at a Child day care center).
And I enjoyed it so much I'm considering to do more with this. But I'm still figuring out how to start, how to get clients etcetera. For the time being I practice on my two lovely daughters and at any occasion I get the chance.

Hi Creabella,

I'm also Dutch, born in Den Bosch, not so far from Drunen.
I'm also fighting (with myself) about how to get clients, I like it so much, feel like I could make money with it.
Goodlook, and jump in the New to Facepainting section to!

Well, I'm playing with that thought too.
But I'm not sure how to start and how to fit it into my life.
Another hobby of mine is making music too, and that takes a lot of time too.

What do you do with music?
I sing in a band, and just started playing harmonica (there is a solo in one song I really want to learn... but first I had to learn to play).

I play the flute (dwarsfluit & piccolo) in a marching band. I've been playing for almost 11 years now. We perfom at parades mostly in Holland, Belgium and France. In the past we also performed at 'taptoes'.
Our band is located at Breda.

Dear Creabella:
Welcome to the Forum!
I have never been to Holland.
Our youngest daughter is named Holland.

I began face painting as a volunteer at a children's hospital on October 31st 1998. Face painting became an addiction for me.

Three years ago, I began to work at making a living as a face painter. I made business cards. It was very slow at first. I began to walk around with my face painted. We went bowling at a place that had black light/UV flow bowling. I would paint our faces when we went bowling. I walked around putting my business cards in parent/child drop-in centres, coffee shops, the local library, children's clothing stores, toy stores, etc.

I created a website from the pictures I took of the work I painted. I went to a local school playground immediately after the school let out for the day, and asked parents if I could paint their children for free, if they would sign a model release form for my future website.

Happy Painting!

I think face paint makes me braver.
It releases my inner Shannon Fennell.

Dear Creabella:
In 1997, when I was pregnant with our third child... I was watching the news about the floods in Manitoba. The news interviewer asked the volunteer worker "What can we, as Ontarioans, do for the flood victims of Manitoba?" The worker began to read from a clipboard with a Red Cross on the back of it. He stopped reading about three items into the list, and said, "We don't need ANY of this stuff. There are 1,500 people here and there are only three showers and nobody brought any towels. Send us your old, clean towels." The worker was so down-to-earth and honest, I was impressed with him. His last name was "Holland". As I packaged up our old, clean towels to send out to the Red Cross and label it for the flood victims of Manitoba... his name got stuck in my head. It was springtime, everywhere I looked, the name was reinforced with all the tulips poking their heads out of the ground, our book club was reading a book about Amsterdam. I shared the name with my husband. It was one of a few we had discussed, but we never agreed upon a name, because we wanted to see the baby's face, to see what name fit.

After 1 and a half minutes of labor, our child arrived. She was put into Tim's arms, and they looked at each other. Our doctor asked her name, and Tim said, "Holland".

When Holland was 7 years old, she did research on her name and discovered that her name means "substance of the earth". She came home SO mad, because we had named her after "dirt".

Ever since the Soccer World Cup, she is SO pleased to find shirts and towels with her name on them. They are all orange colored. We can spot Holland a mile away in her orange accoutrement.

Holland is 15 years old.
I had her yesterday.

Darcy is 18 years old.
I had her a week ago.

Madison will be 20 in two weeks.
I had her a month ago.
(By the way, if you "Google" the words, "Madison" and "Prada" her face will come up in your Google search.
