I don't know or think really that the Stanley brand FatMax is everyone's favorite it just is an easy workable solution.

Stanley rolling toolboxes where introduced by a few of us pioneer airbrush artists, Kat B and myself used (still do!) the old metal three part Stanleys. We showed how we used them in 2005-06. Others airbrushers began to adopt using them. Nick H and Vargas had them. Donna N had something like the Stanley and she and Kat B showed how to use them by making them the table base

Since I had one for airbrushing I stared using one to face paint from in 2005. Even before that some of us used the single box rolling Stanley's to paint from.

The old metal Stanleys break into 3 parts making them very easy to pack into a vehicle and to manage weight wise. The drawback to the FaxMax is it is one piece, making it heavy to lift and harder to fit into vehicles.

Sadly Stanley stopped making the metal ones. My two, one for airbrush and one for face painting are feeling their age. Some of the plastic is becoming brittle. We also have some FatMax kits. We do not use ours as tables. I dislike how they take up so much space when open, and they are too low. For the most part we stand when we work and any little bend in the back will be felt as pain. Your gonna hurt later.
I find too that I miss the small drawers perfectly fitted to holding glitters and the Precious Gems containers. The FaxMax has less small storage space. But they work.

We'll invest in some Artists To Go Tables this year but as much as I love them and thought like Dawn D about making one fore years... They too may not be my dream kit. But I think my staff will love them.

I love my old metal Stanley's. And will be sad and frustrated when they bite the dust. For face painting and airbrushing the two Stanley types fit well with our custom work stations. Our system is well established and works so well. I had a new artist try to work it his way and after the first year, I said you know the system works. Re-showed him and he admitted he was a fool to do it any other way. Hey I've been at this a while!
