first gig! yay!

Post by aprilmoonflower on Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:36 pm

I am in the process of setting up my first gig for next month! I will probably have a friend (a more experienced painter) come help as it's 7 hours long. (only $25 for the table though) so I thought what do I have to lose? I must start somewhere right?

I am sooo excited! Very Happy

Agree with Ashley. Remember to have the children bend their head against you, so you don't twist your back to see them. It makes a lot of difference for you in the end. You don't want all your money spend at the chiropractor ;-)
Else: Have fun =)

Thanks girls! I know 7 hours sounds like a long time but I used to stand on my feet for up to 10 hrs per day (doing hair) so I am not so phased.

YES and body mechanics is the most important thing in staying out of pain! (learned that in massage therapy school!) Thanks for reminding me too! Smile

I have not yet thought of how I will set it up yet. it is just a table at an indoor christmas fair (with Santa) Maybe I should invest int he directors chair NOW though. hmmm. I do have another shorter gig (2 hours at an ice cream shop) before this one so I guess it's not my TRUE first gig.

do you think it would be ok if I only offer cheek art and masks? (going to make a menu ahead of time with the designs I can do) I am not sure how many kids will be passing through..it's hard to say but they are having pictures with Santa so I imagine quite a few!

Congrats April! I'm soooo happy that you've gotten settled enough to get out there! Get somebody to take pictures and I want a long drawn out story about how your day went!

Hug your kit for me...

so, I decided to pass on this gig and work on my practicing some more. I think I won't start taking gigs until after Jan now. I just have too much going on with my kiddos and life ATM. I am going to try to set up some things more locally. (smaller scale to start) I had another gig I could have had but it was 3 hours away in CT! (and only for $75 for 1 hour so not really worth it IMHO though the practice would have been good, I'm sure I can get something closer to home)

I'm SUCH a chicken sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad
