Thank u Val. It is really hard for me to see the whole face and change it with the details like Daphne does or Kammy. I don't yet know how to see behind what is facing me and make it look different. I can copy but to create a new face is not easy.

Thank you! I enjoyed painting it, and it was very quick as I didn't have much time before I had to collect Cian from nursery. Didn't want to turn up painted again. Laughing

Was just looking at the book with the fire princess recently and it mentioned Metallics colors. DId u use metallic? i could not see any metallics in the book.
You sure did a great job on it!

so afraid to mess up those tears drop but will try one of this days!!!
Very Happy
I used some pearl colours because I thought they'd look good, reflecting the light in a more "fiery" way, if you see what I mean. I used (if I remember correctly) TAG pearl red and pearl yellow, Snaz orange (can't recall whether or not it was the sparkle one, I think it was regular...) and Wolfe black. If you don't have the metallics they're not really needed. I'm sure it would look fantastic anyway.

Just keep practising the teardrops, and give the design a go! Remember it's only face paint - you can wash it right off and start again. I'm sure you'll do great, and I can't wait to see your version of it. I still have the fire fairy as my profile pic on Facebook, and Z (who designed it for Illusion and Friends Book 2) was tickled pink that I loved it so much.

Have a lovely day, and thanks for the kind words!

Paola, those dogs are to cute!!!
And I draw the picture that I want to paint on a face, without colors, so I know how to make the painting.

Kammy, still like your kitty Very Happy

And those realistic painting aren't good for parties.... so I do have to practice the basic faces so I can do them without looking for an example.
But the realistic ones... so much fun!! I like to paint from a picture that is not a facepaint.

Tee hee. I'm sorry you (and others who are on my FB friends list) get to see them twice most of the time! I'd stop posting them to Facebook....but several friends asked me not to!

You've inspired me to start looking more closely at animal photos for face painting inspiration. I've always been scared to do so, because I've never been good at drawing, painting or anything like that. I seem to be able to face paint to an OK degree (for a newbie, I mean), and I think I'm worried I'll jinx myself if I get too adventurous. Very Happy

Kammy, I don't mind see them twice... (don't stop posting them on facebook!)
I stopped posting a lot on Facebook because a couple of my friends are thinking that I don't have a life anymore LOL
just the ones that I really really like appear on facebook.

And also I'm no hero in drawing, but with face paints.. something happened Very Happy

My Dad used to joke that all he could draw were flies and stick figures...I guess it was an inherited trait. Shocked Well the latter anyways lol. I can't draw at ALL but I think my painting is OK.

I love this thread! You ladies are great! I LOVE everything I have seen posted here! (well except my first picture Wink )

Kammy--I repond on FB and forget to on here---I really do like this face and will have to steal it Smile

Paola---I thought your painting was great--really full faces are not the only way to do face painting---I am jealous of your talent

Erica---keep painting---flys and stick figures---you are WAY past that!! Keep it up! PS: Jack Skeleton is one of my Favorite singing voices in a movie ever!

Daphne---It took me a second (ok third) look to see the dog eyes were not your own! ha ha ha---I thought you had contacts in or something---silly me---maybe I need new glasses!

keep it up!

So I was inspired by this thread + Christmas for my entry to the contest.

I was *trying* to make update my kitty (thanks thread!) and make it cutetastic.
I pulled up a picture of the CUTEST baby kitten
I mean, puss in boots, big eyed ball of "AAwwwwww"

and while painting apparently I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque because.....

Creepy Christmas Cat is Creepy.

LOL - Melinda, your "Creepy Christmas Cat is creepy" comment has me in stitches!

You're right, though.....that cat does look a LITTLE like it's attempting to look cute, just to get close enough to bring out the chainsaw.....

On the other hand, it's good painting!! Very Happy I love the texture between the yellow and orange, and I SERIOUSLY wish I could paint on my own eyelids. Sigh.

That is so nice of you to say Amylady.!!!!
Is strange you think it though as i always feel like stealing your butterfly from your avatar when i see it. Is so different and i love the curls!!

I think Daphne said it right:
"And those realistic painting aren't good for parties.... so I do have to practice the basic faces so I can do them without looking for an example.
But the realistic ones... so much fun!! I like to paint from a picture that is not a facepaint."

Your cats and dogs are fast and makes the children happy. I like the first cat u did because some child like mine don't like too much paint on their faces and that is perfect! if i only find the right spot to place the ears to which i seems to have problems with lol!

Melinda that is so crazy good it took me many viewing to find your own eyes. Great colors and shading OMG!! I do agree with Kammy not sure what is behind the kitty's back waiting for me. geek

I'm really sorry for this, everyone - and especially Melinda - but after that last photo, the main thing that sprung to mind was:

Creepy Christmas Cat is Creepy....and Constipated. lol!

I'll just go to the corner now, shall I?
