Love some elements of this but hate others (particularly the sides) What do you think?

I like it Erica, i think the tears drops on the side bottom part could point to the stone focal point or towards the eye either then that.... I love the colors, the tears drops in the center are really good only wish i could make them that straight!! The dots are incredible precise did u use a brush? the side tears drops are good too. And the silver bling looks really nice!

Um, if you are asking my opinion, which is probably not the one true answer...
I LOVE the colors.
I LOVE the precision of line placement.

I would like to see if you can do the same thing, with the sizes of the side wing teardrops going from big to small from the top, and from small to big going down to the bottom.... so they cut in underneath and above your side eye teardrops. That way, the outer edge shape will not be such a smooth, single arch from the top swinging out to the bottom. The outer edges will be more interesting.

xoxox
There is room for a third teardrop in wedge between the two side eye teardrops

Did each side different in this butterfly (trying to compensate for my uneven butterflies here Embarassed )

Post by Erica's Funny Faces on Wed Mar 06, 2013 6:23 pm

Yea, I really have a hard time painting the sides of my face since my vision is really bad. I am trying to practice so that my hand just kinda does the motion for me. I am able to do the teardrops on the center of my face or on other's faces but something about that angle strains my eyes....practice makes perfect? Oh, I hope so! Laughing Yes I used a #2 brush for all the lines, dots and tear drops. Should I be using something else for the teardrops? Is there a better brush? My #2 loew cornell sometimes has to be pried out of my hand. Maybe I should experiment... I think your opinion is right on point Fesspenter! Thank you, now I will know what to shoot for next time. Love your new avatar Paola! It looks puuurrrr-fect! Ok, that was lame! lol

Very nice Valerie! I think your butterflies look great, not at all uneven...IMO the one that you felt you needed to "compensate" for looked a bit off instead. Great job, I love when the big kids want to participate!

Erica: love the masks. The colors are great. Awesome that you made them up. I pretty much have to work from some type of reference.

Valerie: those look really good! I really like the red/pink and black butterfly.

Post by Valerie A on Wed Mar 06, 2013 6:52 pm

Wow, you all make me feel so good. I am rather shy about posting my stuff, cos my eyes pop at the talent here...even the so-called newbies Laughing So it is nice to get some good feedback.
Any suggestions are great too!!
Paola, yes, that was a star stencil. I tried stars one time and knew immediately I needed a stencil from then on! They might have been the worst thing I ever tried to paint freehand!
lol!
What I need most of all is practice...but it is tax season (my husband is a tax consultant) and I help out in the office, so not much going on with painting for me right now. I'm taking some paints (er, Make Up to any TSA people listening) with me when we go on our anniversary trip in April (Hawaii! Yay! I'm sooo excited) so I'll have some fun 'doodling' over there.

Thanks again, Paola! You are very encouraging.
(I seem to be posting at the same time others are albino )

Valerie, I am amazed by you! I can't believe you have been hiding all that talent!!! cheers And thanks everyone, I have just started trying to add my own spin on things and not follow step by step from another design. It isn't always easy Laughing and I don't always pull it off as you can see but it is fun to try! Blastin I think it is so cool that your able to paint such realistic monsters and on yourself to boot! I love horror and gore. Shiranshoku your roses are great, that is 1 thing I just can seem to get the hang of. I own so many one strokes but I just haven't got around to learning to use them haha. Great job everyone, let's keep sharing because it has been really inspiring for me.

Sweet roses, Shiranshoku!

Erica, that pigeon, Kevin, is so cute! I hope one day to follow in your footsteps and be more creative (not following so closely what others have done.) You are coming up with some great things.
Awesome villain face! it's amazing how it transforms your son...one side such a sweet face and evil on the other!

This must be a record for thread length!! Shocked I personally like to keep it shorter, so new people joining us don't feel they have to go thru so many pages before they share with us.

And if you get over to the Introductions thread, be sure and invite other new people to join us...it makes it so much more fun to have lots of people sharing.

I am going to start the 3rd Show and Tell thread tomorrow probably (too pooped tonight Sleep to even think about it.. Laughing ) so look for it and start posting there..

Of course, if you DO have something to share before that thread is started, please feel free to keep posing here.
cheers
