Step By Step Velcro Set up?
Any one have a step by step process of their velcro set up? I'm really interested in trying it but completely lost in exactly what to buy and how to use it :p
Re: Step By Step Velcro Set up?
I use the industrial strength--You can get it at Lowe's, Home Depot, maybe Michael's. I applied it on to of exercise mats (WalMart) I'd cut to size for my kit.
I'd suggest full width strips of the soft side for the kit, and put the hook side (the stiff sticky side) cut into small strips on the bottom of the paint jars. (I don't lift to paint unless I am body-painting--so I wanted them in securely. I spaced them so jars can go side by side, and also in rows side by side...

Re: Step By Step Velcro Set up?
I got the circle ones at walmat, but now my paints sit a little lopsided.
when I redo them I will use squares on either end of the my rectangle paints so they don't move as much.

Ashovoxo,
You may want to look at Lady Jayde's thread on her magnetic setup before you invest in Velcro. It looks very cool... Just an idea

Thank you Anniel!
What do you glue the excercise mat down with to secure it in your case?

Re: Step By Step Velcro Set up?
It depends on the size of magnets and what you're using to set it up.billiebcc wrote:Just a note on the magnets.....makes your kit heavy.
My paint case is 8.9 oz. heavier with the magnet and metal sheet. It's been a couple of years and my paint box is still going strong. I keep my pants in a jewelry display box and the magnets work perfectly for my setup. The most I have to carry that box which holds 26-30 paint pots (THAT'S what's heavy) is from my rolling box to the table.
Velcro is a nice medium as well, I just don't like it because I am a professed "pot holder" and I need to be able to pluck my pots out of my box without them having separation anxiety.
Either way, you're going to have a kit with your paints held hostage...as it should be.
Re: Step By Step Velcro Set up?
I don't secure it...I trim it just a tad larger, and it snugs in quite nicely---that way if I ever ditz out and close my kit in a hurry, without dumping my water...which I HAVE done once (silly me), I can take it apart easily to fix it!
(In case you do need to pop out your paint pot, & have some untacking I have some superglue stashed to re-glue any loose velcro (usually the labels on kryolan...)
