Must Haves In Your Kit?

Post by ashovoxo on Thu Dec 06, 2012 11:44 am

Since I'm building my kit little by little( trying to get prepared for an Easter festival) I'm wondering if there's anything that you wish you had in your kit while you were working and regret not having. There's always things that you think about buying and don't so it would be an awesome heads up Smile I have things like rags, hair clips, scrunchies, baby wipes, hand sanitizer etc

But I keep it well hidden so none of the "cookie snatchers" can grab it... Wink I need it for my back most days and the occasional headache that is brought on by same said "cookie snatchers".

I have stopped doing the white around the eyes if they seem to not be able to keep the eyes unsquinted. I just do a white circle around the eye and then proceed with the tiger....or whatever design. You can avoid the eyes with most and it still looks good.

Wolfe White

tiny hair clips from the dollar store

distilled water to paint with

business cards

organic lavender hand sanitizer

unscented baby wipes

unbreakable mirror from IKEA

breath mints

70% rubbing alcohol

pop up folding cups to hold my drying brushes

Lee Valley Tools surgical scrub brushes

pop up bucket to hold my used sponges

festive gift bag in translucent plastic to hold my garbage beautifully

telescoping director's chair with closed back

new FatMax

roll up table

homemade foamcore folding table top with velcro to hold paint and brushes in place, bungy corded to my FatMax

If I am doing an all day festival, I put soft, squishy foam interlocking floor tiles in my tent. When I drop a brush, I can find it.

This is just to start with.

Mesh Laundry bag for dirty sponges.

You can put the mesh bag inside another "festive bag" or my favorite, a gift bag from the dollar store so that no one can see you dump your dirty sponges into a mesh bag, keeps everything neat and tidy.

Then at the end of the day you can just dump your mesh bag into the laundry.

Some things are normal and already said but things that pop into my mind

masking tape- I like it over others as you can stick stuff up with it, it comes of easy and if you ever need to write on it you can.

Sharpie, pen and some paper -for PPF events writing on masking tape and having to make unexpected signs.

Breath mints.

Paracetamol

Rubbish bag of some sort. I have a bucket for my dirty sponges and a slightly bigger bucket for rubbish which I line with a shopping bag. when I go home throw liner bag away and store sponge bucket inside the other. Never spills in the car as I have a lid on each. not fancy pretty but I like it.

Light weight chair - I say this as I have two tall directorsí chairs as my first one was so heavy get a lightweight one.

Cotton buds

Hand towel

Paper towel - I donít bring a whole roll but enough to clean up a mess if it happens. Dry a brush on. I used the centre of an old roll to wind onto am then flattened it I refill as required but takes up less space this way. I have also used zip lock bag before whatever works. I do bring more for festivals.

A sign with a few languages saying do not touch the face painterís equipment, no food of drink on the table etc. I think I have English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Laos, Korean, Arabic, Italian and Spanish on mine.

Spare white and black - even with a new one in use in case they goup happens to me all through long summer events.

Something to apply gems with - I used to have a DSi stick now have a wooden stick thing.

A stamp- for park parties or open parties etc. invited kids hand stamped so I don't paint the gate crashers.

An empty zip lock bag - because I have had my bling lids taken, had my white face paint chip off the edge so the lid wouldn't go back on. Always handy for those unexpected events throw it in a zip lock till you get home.

Acrylic mirror AKA unbreakable mirror

Thank you, Rebons,
I tried to load an actual picture of myself.
Damned computer!
It won't do what I MEAN to do.

This is my middle daughter, again.
I only painted her back.
I was practicing for Fantasy Fest.
