Score! Director's chairs!

Post by Lady Jayde on Fri Nov 06, 2009 2:21 pm

I managed to score two directors chairs...wooden, but light weight for me (thanks to a year and half of strength training) for $60 a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you! I had no idea what I was missing! I definitely prefer to stand and the stools I have are good if I'm sitting and the child is sitting or if I'm painting an adult! Slowly but surely, I'm getting myself together! I got my insurance papers a few weeks ago, and now all I need is time to face paint!

Anybody know where I can get some of that really cheap?

I've got some thyme in a bottle... will that do?

Congrats on the chairs. I, too, prefer to stand when face painting. I love my tall director chairs!

I only use mine for theater and in my studio... I tried on gigs, but it is too hard on my back and getting the little ones in and out is too risky.

For a second (a really brief second) I was scratching my head, wondering why you were offering me spices... then I got it... you're insane (in a good way of course!)

what do you do at regular gigs Shannon? I was thinking of just using regular padded folding chairs with cushions if needed. (I am not wanting to stand to paint but sit!!)

The client provides the table and chairs - usually they end up being those moulded plastic ones, sometimes I am lucky and get offered a rolling steno chair for myself! Love those.

It depends on the venue and what they have. In private homes it can be dining room tables and chairs, or, playroom furniture, or patio furniture...

I find that I'm okay on most chairs... I can shift around, turn both directions, reach back and forth... it keeps my back from getting sore.

that's cool and what i thought. I am envisioning those folding metal ones.. I think I could work with any type of chair as long as it has a back. (a stool would be awful!) but I think I will think about bringing a cushion for me just in case!

I got my chair at Pier Import, if this can help some. Smile But 2 for 60$, woot! What a deal!

I find them to be very useful for my back and the fact that I can move around my canvas. :p The main downsive is that they are kind of heavy to hang around to different gigs, if you don't have a car.

Oh, and I will ask the client to provide a table and two chairs, if needed.

I have the same chairs.... and two are kinda heavy to carry together. But if it's just me I only bring one, I bungee it to my Fat Max, and wheel away! (of course, I've not come across an issue of stairs or anything, but Indianapolis is rather flat!)
