Fairy fly Candy land

Post by l!zzie on Fri Dec 14, 2012 3:09 pm

Treated myself with some Silly Farm rainbowcakes and a fairy fly kit 'Candy land'.
They were on sale available in the Netherlands, so I didn't hesitate!

But... Is there anyone having already made a design with this kit, or knows someone who did? Would love to see some examples!

I'd be interested to see some, too! "Rosebud" is easy to make designs with, but the colours in "Candy Land" are a little more unusual. Smile

well, it is staying quite quiet around this subject, but I can't imagine that there is nobody who owns "candy Land".
You'd think there must be somebody who does.... Rolling Eyes

I saw that too, but I only got 3 rainbowcakes by sillyfarm...didn't get the fairy fly though..the combinations seemed a bit strange to me...

Yes, it is a bit strange!
I know how to use them seperately, the combinations of the splits are very nice, but the whole kit in one design is a bit hard...

Dagnammit, I came back after my weekend away and saw "7 replies", hoping there'd be a whole LOAD of inspiration here. No joy on that front.

I guess L!zzie and I will have to inspire each other, instead. Very Happy

Check the Silly Farm tutorials...there are a lot of them and surely Heather uses that cake somewhere!

I think heaps of people must be watching this thread with a lot of anticipation like me! I just ordered 'Duelling Dragons' and 'Wildflower', but I'm in Australia but it will take a while to get here. When it does I'm definitely going to have a play, and if I come up with anything half decent I'll post photos! Smile

Would love to see those!
Silly farm does have tutorials with those, the colourcombos are much more matching!
It's just the Candy land that's a bit hard, but it was the only one available in the Netherlands, and the colours are still beautiful, so I can use them seperate.
Just anxious to know if there was a design including the big splitcake and the smaller one strokes!

soooo....I got it..was very curious, but the big rainbow is a very strange combination, I would never ever put a pink/purpelish colour next to a greenish/blueish one, but i will try it! I don't get the green one stroke combination in combination with the rest either...I will try it and probably take the greens out and put a dark blue and a teal to match up with the bigger rainbow...I will try and do design soon..

Great Michelle, you're so good at one strokes!
Let's all try and see what we can come up with!

I think the green mini-split is for leaves, to go with the flowers you can paint with the purple/pink/white split, Michelle. At least, that's the way I've used it. Similarly to L!zzie, though, I haven't worked out a design that uses the bigger rainbow along with those one-stroke cakes. They're such pretty colours, but Rosebud is far easier to design with.

Re: Fairy fly Candy land

well...I regret buying it to tell the truth..why is it called candy land anyway?? it has nothing to do with candy...indeed you can make flowers and leaves and that's what I did, but the rainbow is so blue with the blue and teal...

I don't like the combination...but here's what I made with it...I would have made a brighter rainbow to match the other colours in the one strokes...

I also still think that all these one strokes are too big...but I like the white-pink-purple combination, although I don't like metallics in one strokes too much...

You're fabulous.... Even with a cake like this you make an awsome mask! Thanks!
I see what you mean by using the blue and teal beside each other, there's not much difference between those colours...
Hmmm... I'll give it a try too, when I'm able to paint again!

Beautiful, Michelle - thank you for having a go with this! I actually DO like the colours of the large cake, but I really consider it more of a blue-purple shade shift, if you get what I mean, rather than three distinct colours. Again, the one in Rosebud is far easier to use, but I might revisit my CandyLand now to make some masks and so on.

Incidentally, the green one-stroke cake makes good snakes, too. I did one on my little boy's arm when the kit first arrived, and he loved it. Smile

And l!zzie....beware. Now I know I like Rosebud, I'll know what to buy you next time I feel like sending a wee care package over the canal. Very Happy
