I am a couponer...and since the show started manufacturers have cracked down on coupon rules...it is a bummer...when you can only use 4 coupons per day...some stores are even gonna start tracking when you use your customer card. Long gone are the days of lots of freebees....especially the trial size stuff....not they say not used for trial or travel size... Crying or Very sad

Nope, I have even stopped buying the inserts because since I moved here, there's no where to shop that even has sales... where there are a couple of small stores, but their regular prices are so high that even when they have sales and I add a coupon, it's still too high Sad

With all the new regulations, I pretty much just use my coupons when the items go on sale, at a store that either doubles the coupon or gives you coupons back for the purchase (like CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens).

The best deals are usually when you use your store coupons from a previous purchase to buy things that give you more store coupons (called rolling your coupons).

I used to coupon too. I've gotten $800 down to $30...that's probably my best haul. I never really went crazy for stuff that I didn't need though...The stuff I got was Cereal, pasta, hot dogs, tuna, condiments (like mayo, ketchup, BBQ sauce), razors, toilet bowl cleaner, toothpaste, toothbrushes....etc. I'm brand picky for lots of things, so I only went crazy when it was stuff I was going to actually use. I haven't couponed seriously for a couple of years now and my husband just had to buy his first razor since my first couponing trip about 4 years ago. I think my best food deal was 320 vacuum sealed tuna packets that the store paid me $9 to take (overage was used on produce). The best HBA item deal was the razors mentioned above...I got about 100 Glilette Fusion Razors for free and they came with 3 refills each.
I can't do it anymore though...it consumed every spare minute of my day. I think it's fair to say that face painting has taken over that spot in my life and it's much more fun! Very Happy.

this is making me so jealous...but on the other hand I do wonder how on earth a store can make a profit if they even pay you to buy stuff...
here each coupon is limited to 1 per household.

The stores don't lose money. The stores are paid by the companies that make the items. If you read the fine print on the coupons, that is addressed to the stores, they make 8 cents above the value of the coupon. So if the coupon is for 50 cents, the stores collect 58 cents from the company when they redeem the coupon.

For those stores that double coupons...I'm not so sure. The stores may take a hit on those but some coupons state that they shouldn't be doubled so that makes me wonder.

I used to use coupons for groceries, but haven't in years now. I was never an extreme couponer though.
We don't eat a lot of boxed or canned goods, and that's what most coupons are for so it just doesn't seem worth the time to me. And I have noticed a lot of stores have changed there policies regarding coupon use. I haven't seen a store that doubles coupons since we were in Maine almost six years ago!

Regarding coupons for Michaels, which I do use, they are always fine to break things into two transactions for me. I go at times when they aren't busy, so I don't annoy other customers. They let me use the coupons from adverts or email, and then they will let me use a coupon on my iPhone. I have the Michaels app and it sends coupons every week. Takes no time at all really.
I've been using the coupons to replace brushes over the last couple of months.
