This is the Jewel Picker....

Post by Jobena1 on Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:36 pm

I can't take credit for this find...it goes to Tina H. I can't live without the Gem Wand aka Jewel picker...the tip is sticky enough to pick up the Gem and place it on the face....no more fumbling with small gems!!! Less than 3.00 bucks at craft store. I hope all those that emailed me can see the pic>

Digging this up from the depths... just wanted to add, you can make one of these with a pencil or other pointy object and some repositional glue. Aleene's Tack it Again and Again, or some other.

Just an FYI - super cheap - super easy.... I keep a tiny birthday candle with my small crystal. The wax holds the crystal, but releases easy. cheap, replaceable and you don't care if you loose it! So if you get a nice jewel picker and then misplace it, head to your cupboard and grab an old birthday candle!

I did this at my last event, there i was next to a jewelry maker of all people, and him using a gem picker and me with my birthday candles, and he actually asked me what i was using lol....never heard of it he said, but he did assure me he would be picking up some to keep around for "just in case." so good advice Mehndi Masala

You can also ask where you can buy tools for goldsmiths. In Germany, this tool has the name waxleg (Wachsbein) or "Steinaufnehmer". It can also make yourself: a small piece of wood (such as toothpicks, rounded down) - to the top: beeswax, mixed with dust of charcoal (like a cone shaped)
