My Bloody Birthday

Post by JennyNixe on Wed Jan 16, 2013 8:38 pm

I had this great idea for older boy birthday parties -- offer horror/gore painting and effects for the kids to wear out to pizza or a movie. Has anyone else done this? Special effects experts, is it even possible? I'm guessing you'd need more time and the cost per kid would be higher, but it's an untapped market.

What do you think?

My S F/X kit for SickKids is small, yet effective.
2 Bruise Wheels
Scab Blood
Zesty Mint Flavored runny dark blood
Red runny Blood
Latex
Kleenex
Tiny spatulas
Brushes
Pine nuts and Rice and Rice Krispys (to create maggots crawling in wounds.)
Rubbing Alcohol

I just charge my hourly rate.
Yes, it takes longer to do SF/X than F/P.
I usually juggle two at a time, so one can be drying while I am painting the other child.
The price is not per child, it's by the hour and I can only do 4-11 children per hour with SF/X, depending upon degree of complexity of wound.

Happy Painting!

I do offer this service. Some parents like it better than regular face painting for boys parties, though honestly, girls ask me for zombie faces way more often than boys do!
Instead of a face painting, I offer one small 3D effect per child. So one vampire bite, one bullet hole, one laceration, etc.
