First ever attempt - which design?

Post by Dragonstarr on Thu Jan 24, 2013 3:45 am

Hi All

I'm very new to the world of face and body painting, and I have been reading through the forums (thankyou all for so much freely shared info!), and decided to get myself some paints. Now I'm just wondering what your advice would be for a first ever design attempt, keeping in mind I will be applying it to myself?

While I know I will be doing a lot a practicing anyways, I was hoping for something I would have a reasonable shot of success at lol. I have the Extreme Facepainting book from the library. Is anything in there suitable for a first ever attempt?!?!

(my 'kit' consists of the TAG 12 colour pallet, a rainbow cake, a purples one-stroke, and a 'snake' one stroke, and some glitter)

Many thanks for your help!!

Start with something you really like and says: Paint me! Paint me!

if you are looking for instant success, sorry it won't happen--unless you already have some mad painting skills--I started with a butterfly, spider-man, a snake, a simple tiger face---which seem to be pretty popular (except snake, not really asked for where I like)

I am pretty new too---check out the newbie section for the weekly challenges! They help you try new stuff and break out of your shell---It is located under New To Face Painting!

Can't wait to see you grow in your painting!

I say spider man.
Really easy and at least half of all boys want to be him.

Tigers look great and are very satisfying to do.

Butterflies and spider masks are essentials.

Butterfly and tiger those are some of my most request designs.
I recommend practice one with lots and different kind of lines, when you are able to manage them can make your work way more fun.

Thanks again for your advice...I have a butterfly and a tiger on the top of my list to try when my paints arrive.

Lisa, I'm in the Lockyer Valley, in South East QLD. We've had some bad weather, but luckily we escaped any damage this time. Others were not so lucky Sad My order of paints was in transit when the rains started, but hopefully once the post gets sorted out, they will find their way to me.

My sister lives in Elanora QLD. Her power was out, and the flooding was minimal.
