Painting Without My Brain Turned On

Post by contrachapado on Tue Nov 17, 2009 2:19 pm

I was practice painting at home today. I had a cup of tea sitting at the table with me and, you guessed it, wet my brush in my cup of tea. I didn't realize it at first, until I looked in my cup and there was a swirl of blue.

Embarassed

What silly things have you done while painting?

While jamming in a friend's kitchen - three of us, all drinking G&Ts - I inadvertently used my G&T for rinsing my brush, I was painting and drinking not realizing it... then noticed my G&T was well, coffee coloured... tasted fine and it sanitized my brushes!!

Have been trying to figure out how to make it work on the job, as it were!

I've started painting something, then halfway through the base, I've forgotten what it was I'm supposed to be painting. But then again, I suffer from short-term memory loss and periods of confusion. Or am I normal?

Sounds normal to me : ) but I am a mom of four so it isn't unusual for me to start heading somewhere in the house to get/do something done and forget when I get there what i was doing...... gahhh!!

Erm...Wyndy - I do the same thing, and I'm not a mom!

I've auto-piloted on balloons before, too, haha.

We should make signs that warn against the dangers of leaving one's drink by our paints Razz

I did it today. I forgot my disney ID at home so drove their after my first job. Decided since Im home I'll just change into costume at home. Well tonight when I was off, I headed straight to the locker rooms and spent 10 minutes trying several locks, trying to figure out which locker I had stuffed my clothes into. Then I realized, oh I changed at home today.

OC, you work at Disney? Do you paint there or something else? I was "Merchantainment" in Fantasyland in Orlando for a summer a few years ago. The mouse is a tough boss, huh?

As for painting without my brain, I do a lot of things without turning my brain on so it's nothing I get too surprised about when I do something silly.

Shannon, you could always substitute your face painting water with clear liquor...and then assure the clients that EVERY face painter serious about their craft must taste test the water periodically to be sure it is still usable, for the client's protection of course...

I can't tell you how many times I've painted a face with coke/coffee/apple juice etc. I just carry on and laugh with the parents and assure them that the paint is safe to eat and the liquid is safe to wear...LOL This usually only happens at the end of a 12 hr festival day LOL Glad I'M not the only one LOL
I've also gotten a request at the end of a long day for something slightly out of the norm like a hamster or something and find that I accidentally paint a cat...a quick swish to change the shape of the ears and the child LOVES it LOL It just shows that we are our own worst critics LOL
