Dr Suess I need some ideas please.

Post by billiebcc on Mon Feb 25, 2013 3:43 pm

I am face painting on Thursday for a class play. There is a class of 24 children that will be doing three small plays. The teacher has told me they will be doing a Cat in the Hat with the characters doing the Cat, Sally, the boy, Mother, Fish and then narrators, Green Eggs and Ham, with the parts beign Sam I Am and narrators, and the last one is One Fish Two Fish.
I am struggling trying to figure out what she wants me to paint the kids as who are narrating or "the boy" from the Cat in the Hat" or even the mother.

I have an email in to her but I know she is gone on funeral leave right now. She told me she didn't assign everyone a part as some of the children are not strong readers and she doesn't want to force them to participate.

ACK!

Just Big Eyes do you think and Swirlies and the puffy clouds? That's all I can think of.

One thing that's kind of consistent throughout Dr. Seuss's books is that his characters all look furry, even the fish. I think if you painted each child pastel with a bit of texture and with big white eyes and maybe teased their hair to look all floofy, that would really capture it.

Anramire2 yes it is, i love it and copied twice from LJY. It took me a bit of time to do. Placing the eyes etc. i don't know how much time Billiebcc has and if it can be done in a class of 24 kids.
I think JennyNixe idea is pretty good and fast.
BillieBCC, you could also use google image to search DR Seuss and see what it comes out.
So sorry i cannot help more i only copied Lisa.
Have a great time though!!

You should PM Kat, she did a whole Seuss event. I think FairyFox gave her some cute ideas too. I don't want to post their pictures but I thought they were darling. Kat dressed up as Cat in the Hat.

Thank you sooo much everyone! The thread that I found from Kat helped immensely! I found the face Amanda did as well, there will be some boys painted as that. I did have LJY's lorax ready, but the teacher didn't know if the Lorax would be in place for this year, but I went off the forehead design and I am going to make thing one and thing two with on the foreheads with the white background and blue hair. I will put thing one on one cheek and thing one on the opposite cheek of the other child for speaking parts they have to put their heads together. (Good way to spread the common cold bug around right?) I have a fish in a dish design, (I'm not too happy with it, but it will do and I am making fluffy tree like butterflies for the girls that you know will be picky. (They are 9 and I know there will be a few.)

Thank you again everyone!!!!!!!! I really appreciate the help and if I am allowed to take pictures I will! -or I will re-paint my children and force them to smile nicely. I'm that kind of mom. Ha ha ha.

What if you did the cats hat--like LJY does a Witches hat?

Can you do Thing 1's hair and then a circle with Thing 1 Written on it on the cheek?

Could you do Horton the elephant, like The Lorax and have his trunk come down the nose?

Make the eyes look like Green Eggs (white around the eyes with the eyelids green for the yoke?) and do the ham in the middle of the forehead? Strange? yes?

painting at universal island of adventure in the suess land. we had a white cat face with the red and white hat, 2 fish, i think that was all.

you can do those fluffy trees from the lorax. a book, a fish in a bowl or a cup, random things balancing on other things.
