Cleaning for dummies....

Post by Miss Ronnie on Wed Feb 27, 2013 4:44 pm

Eureka! I have found it!

Something that REALLY cleans your dummy... no, not your husband, silly... your practice head!!!!

The product is called M.E.K Substitute and I got it from Home Depot. make sure you DO NOT buy real M.E.K. because it is highly toxic.

You need to wear gloves... and I did this right next to my kitchen window that I opened while using this product. It has a really strong chemical smell... yummy-licious for those like me who like the smell of gasoline and such.... but please ventilate while using because I don't want to have to start a whole new forum for face & body artists who are addicted to huffing this stuff. Laughing Also, before you throw away the paper towels, get them totally wet before disposal.

OMY Miss Ronnie.....you are way too funny....I have an old beauty school head that I shaved her head down...it was a hot mess with stains...I used Acetone Nail Polish Remover and cotton ball...super clean...they only thing she has no eyebrows and her eyes look like she is the devil herself. But in a pinch she sits still and her head has yet to spin around. Very Happy

Methyl Ethyl Ketone

I am going by what the guy at Home Depot told me:
Methyl Ethyl Ketone Substitute is nowhere near as hazardous to use as real M.E.K., which apparently is very bad to inhale and you need special gloves to handle it.

I have an extra head that I have been trying to get rid of, she's the ugly step sister of the family and you are welcome to have her! Just PM me your address and pay the shipping. Smile She is great for practice but I'm serious when I say she's ugly lol! She is an old beauty school head that has been shaved down...here she is!

I think her name must be Sinead.... or are you too young to know who I'm referring to?

Just note that the beauty school heads are not the same material as ProKnows heads. So not all chemicals will react the same on all heads - test a small patch before using on your head.

MEK is not only dangerous if inhaled but it is dangerous on the skin. THe vapors alone are flammable. Hence I'll assume a substitute has its place.
Remember all chemicals should be stored safely and in metal storage units.
